Yeah, nice:

World champion mountain bike rider Craig "Gordo" Gordon trains on a road bike that weighs 6.4 kilograms and costs about $10,000. In competition, his $9000 mountain bike weighs 8.8 kilograms.

The former Commonwealth Games competitor, whose training regimen includes waking at 3.39am to ride 900 kilometres a week, says his low body weight means he can use a wider range of light parts.

Pfft... slacker! Eye-wink

Those look like solid forks, not very useable to me.

Full build under 5Kgs? No way!

Quote taken from SMH article:

The average road bike may weigh anything up to 30 kilograms but a weight weenie stalks targets lower than seven kilograms

Does that include a small child sitting in a baby seat?
Shocked

For those who like to scrimp on 'proper' tires, see Gordo's take:

I could run a super light-weight tyre weighing 150 grams but it could mean I would puncture three times in a race. A bulletproof tyre weighing 880 grams is heavier but you're not trying to make up time from stopping to fix it

They are SIDs that have been customised.

"Fork: SID Extrem (Carbon inside) Evo 776"

There is a mistake there though because as far as I know Schwalbe don't let Maxxis stamp the side of their tyres

So for the doubters, second place goes to http://light-bikes.com/bikegallery/BikeListing.a...

SMH must have weighed Junkie's & Gazza's Cannondale's to come up with that average weight

Nice one Steve Smiling but the total weight of all GAZZA's Cannondale's probably doesn't even get to 30kgs Sticking out tongue

@Brian - you do know he has 4? Perhaps the quartet would come in under 40kg though? It all depends if his SuperSix can make up for the lardy Rize Eye-wink

I knew he had a few and hence the use of "probably" Sticking out tongue. Even with the 4 it would come close.

PS. I let the lardy Rize comment slide...

quick rough calculation =37.6 for three mtb's and one roadie! now remove this post before the lurking bike thieves read it!

DAMN!!!

Maybe if I leave my bike around your guys bikes it might start getting a complex about it's weight and start working out by-iteslf, instead of me having to get it's sorry fat ass out of bed every morning...

Last time he weighed himself, he was 17.5kg, and since replacing my Thomo with a Joplin, I dare say it's gone up slightly...

I shouldn't be too harsh, his weight is hereditary, being a 7" front and 6" rear Norco 6.... lol

I bet if he spent more on bike fit and a proper coach his "competitiveness would improve 100% and his time wold drop by 25%
