Lidsdale 13th June
From Lithgow head on the Western Highway toward Bathurst. After 10-11Km you will head uphill and see thick pine forest to the right. It's dual carriageway here, and there's a right turn across the other lane into Forest Ridge Drive (signposted and a sealed road). About 50m on the left there's a turning where you can park in the shade. There's also an old concrete section of the highway just past there with masses of parking.
O.K. ladies and gentelmen, it is time we headed west into Flynny territory, the wonderful lidsdale xc track, dont be fooled, it is not just xc, this place has gap jumps, double jumps, good fast downhill sections, and also downhill technical riding into the mix, a couple of lungbusting climbs all in the confines of the state forest, you will have the smell of pine in your nostrils!.
With a little luck we might be able to get Flynny to come out and lead us around!
I know this is a long drive but it is a must on any bike riders to do list!
You do not need to be superman to ride this place, although there are hard bits, you can ride around them on the B lines, this place gets funner the faster you go or you can cruise it and enjoy one of my all time favourite tracks, it's your choice!

Is that the long weekend?
I have a nasty feeling that the kids have a major basket ball tournament in Bathurst. I may be able to sneak back in between games. will double check.
DH can get a fix on the southside trail. it's only short but lost of fun
I will try and be there... depends on family commitments... Really desperate to get back there however.
that death is the penalty for not attending
Sounds good guys. I'm pretty sure this is the long weekend.
I'm actually camping off Black Fellows Hand Track that weekend so I really dont have an excuse for not showing up do I?
Ill talk to the boys i'm camping with to see if there are any plans for the Sun and update this post.
Cheers,
Ian.
And confirming this is the long weekend
And confirming it's going to be a good ride
Ian,
you will be near baal bone gap track, awesome track after rain too!
See you at Lidsdale, you wont regret it!
Todd
Been a long time mate...have to catch up for a ride.
Seen this ride and think that i should be able to make it but got to make sure that im not working that weekend.
The trails out at Lidsdale are awsome with plenty there for everyone. We do night racing there during the week. All of the tracks are well marked too which makes it easy.
We will have to organise a ride for Hassans Walls one weekend and ride those trails too.
It has been a long time mate
good to see you over here
There's plenty of rides in the pipeline - Hassans being one of them
So stay tuned or post one up
Catch up then
I was thinking that maybe Flynny could chaperone us around Mt York/ Hassans Wall, this would be a massively good ride, some big hill, lot of technical riding as well!
We will get this one out of the way and sort a date!
Na I'm out todd.
Dan knows his way around but
Its looking like i should be able to get to his ride.
Im happy to show you guys around the forest and we can do a few laps of the 8 hour course.
I also know my way around hassans walls too as i usually ride here 2 or 3 times a week.
However, i think that i would probably get lost at Mt York as i have only done this ride a few times and they have all been at night so i would probably get lost there.
Ill have to keep my eye out for a ride at Mt York so i can find out how much trouble i get into during the day.
I know lidsdale well enough, also mt york as well, but dont know hassans wall, would be good if you could fling us around there some time!
Sunday is nearly here, looking forward to this one, lidsdale, one of my very favourites!..mmmmm!
Not looking forward to the weather.
Forecast for Sunday
Got your snow tyres on?
Don't worry about the weather. We raced there tuesday night and it's mighty fine. Lidsdale drains awesomely and once you are in the trees you be surprised at how sheltered it is. The pine trees do a great job of insulating the under cover
Looking forward to blowing off some steam - see you all there Sun.
Couldnt agree more, bring layers and strip off as we go, if i find any womens undies i know where ther going!!!
especially with the thought of finding womens undies
Didn't flynny tell a story somewhere of a bit of hanky panky in the carpark at Lidsdale
But unfortunately, i have come down with the flu so i cant make it.
Ill have to make sure i keep my eye open for any Mt york rides.
Let me know if you want to do a Hassans Walls ride as i will be happy to show you guys around there.
Have a good one guys.
That was me, i busted 2 cops doing off duty stuff!
Flynny knows what i mean about girls undies!...hehehehe!
Unfortunately I am out.. will be stuck in Sydney tonight and just can't get out of it damit! Won'tbe able to be back up the hill in time to get out there.
Well I'm still in. Discovered my drive side chainstay was cracked on Monday night. Bought a new (2008) frame for $100 and it arrived from Perth yesterday, a qucik parts swap and I'm ready to ride!
Mind if another comes along
up at the mother in laws at blackheath and though a run round lithgow may be fun
matt
See you there Matt.
