Knapsack "Stringline" Downhill track

Hi Everyone,

After the Monday out at Knapsack with Soren Mortenson and Nick Bowman we have reached a point with the Downhill tracks where we need to reach for a plan C.

The A plan was use the old track to a point the create a new more sustainable line, the B plan was use the old track with some heavy maintenance, which brings us to plan C.

Plan C involves going back out to the site and looking closely at the two established downhill tracks that currently exist and then mapping out a few tangents off the main line hear and there to make as much use of the extablished tracks as possible, this is the preffered option for council and will be the easiest way of getting the track up and running in the quickest possible time.

Thius does not discount the possibility that the other alignment will get approved ti just means that in the event that the option does not make good then we have a fall back position that will aloow us to still move forward.

To this end i am inviting those that missed out on the first offer of being involved with the process to come out and have a say and join us in the mapping phase of this next chapter.

I did not see many of the young downhillers out there and getting invloved so i would expect a much better response this time round.

We need to get on top of this fairly quickly so everyone get the word out i might do something Sunday morning.

Keep your eyes on the site for more postings use this thread to respond

Field trip to the 'Go

Hey kingie showing them what we've done at Lithgow might or might not be a good thing(tm)
The champs had 220 DHers shuttling all day Saturday and racing Sunday both in very damp conditions, so the harshest of sustainability testing, and the track is still in superb condition. Better condition than it ever was in the 20 years leading up to the race

Absolute testament to the redesign work Skinny and the boys put in with help form guys like Killo

Hey mate,
I could be in for a Sunday reconnoiter. I'm not sure exactly what's happening yet with the weekend, but I'll stay tuned to this thread to see what develops.

I would've loved to have been there, except Monday is work day.

I can go Saturday arvo or early Sunday morning.

Hi Kingy,

I may be able to pop up early on Sunday morning for a couple of hours. Keep me posted if you are heading up there.

Paul you looking at doing something like using the first part of the realignment with the one switch back and then meeting up with the old track further down so you don't lose so much height so quickly... so then can still use the last part of the old track then which isn't too bad?

Allso you thinking of any extra deviations up top to add length seeing there would be less length in the Plan C?

Hi Guy, Sorry for the last minute advice, many of you may not be able to come or may not even get this message.

I was thinking of going out to Stringline in the morning around 10 am and then walking the top section of the original track one more time and then seeing if we can eek out a bit more of a trail on the high side of the really rutted section and then put in a few turns here and there based around the original trail using it in sections.

I would also like to do a bit of a run down the other fireroad eroded trail that we looked at after the inital inspection of the String line on Monday with Soren and Nick to see what can be yielded from this site.

I estimate about 2 hours work if we do a solid recconisance mission so if you are bale to come meet at the barnett st carpark area around 10 i will wait till 10 past for stragglers and then i will make my way down to the top of the trail below lovers walk where we can see what is available.

Hope you can make it my mobile is 0431170035

Cheers
