As you may know BMORC have issued a new report outlining various options for both the primary and secondary XC loops and the preferred DH line with options.

We have outlined pros and cons for all options and preferences, including the preference to continue supporting past BMCC Staff recommendations with regards to Old Bathurst Road.

I recommend you take time to read the report.

As part of the 29Jun10 Ordinary Council meeting, an assessment report was to be tabled by Staff in the October meeting. However, given the number of considerations, options and mappings we had to go thru, a sufficient amount of time was not available to undertake full community consultation. Therefore BMCC Staff and BMORC reps have agreed to provide and update to council in the scheduled September meeting (Apologies I will confirm the date for those that want to go) and table the final assessment report with full community consultation in the scheduled November 2010.

As part of this Community consultation process BMORC and the broader riding community will have the ability to support BMORC and Staff recommendations.

There is opportunity for a BMORC lead Bushcare group to be established at Knapsack reserve, however it requires a dedicate local coordinator. As the bush care groups will be contacted as part of a mail out by Council staff, I strongly recommend that we re-establish the defunct Bushcare group to remove the requirement to approach other Bushcare groups not directly involved in the reserve, but have been active in other areas.

Note: if you need me to elaborate please contact me via PM.

Similarly, if you feel strongly about bushcare and weed eradication in the reserve and wish to volunteer as the Bushcare coordinator, please contact me urgently. BMCC will provide relevant training, however, you will need to coordinate the efforts of bushcare volunteers which I would see could be rolled into a regular trackcare programme which I will be coordinating with other BMORC reps.

Any questions please do not hesitate to ask, noting this is a public forum.

I may not be Ideal as I do live out of the area down in Kingswood but I can put my hand up for the job or atleast look further into it. I guess main question is how much involvement is needed? Last thing I want to do is take on the job and then not be able to fulfil the requirements of the position.

This would be a really great thing having a BMORC related bushcare group, however I do think for such a position the person would need to already have an adequate interest in bushcare that the idea of the position would appeal in itself. It is a reasonable role.

... and as you say ChopStir, being able to maintain the role could be tricky. A failed bushcare group may be a worse thing than one that never happened.

With current numbers of people we may be stretched a bit thin for such a role, but I guess it should be something that should be kept spoken about so that maybe someone will come along one day who will fill the role perfectly.
