Hey guys,

So for all of those that went, what did you think?

I was very happy with what the Dirtz guys have done with the place. The track was fun all the way around, and I feel they made good use of the terrain. It certainly needs a lot of wheels over it as the surface was a bit loose. Those big yellow bridges were cool.

My favourite bit would have to be the start of the intermediate loop and the last run down the hill with all of those lovely berms, and the very last bit after the climb out of the yellow bridge section.

My only gripe would have to be that there is a whole lot of exposed riding, which will make it a bastard in summer..

Anywho, interested what the rest of you thought....

We where very dissappointed with the opening turn out for the cutting of the ribbon. About 30 riders in total. When your trying to argue that there is something like 30,000+ riders who need formilised legal tracks through out nsw to ride and only 30 turn up to an opening of what they have been fighting for is a real let down.

My friend and I both agreed that we both Liked the track and Disliked it.

Its great to finaly have a formalised track.

Liked -
- Berms
- Bridges
- Some obsticles
- Track would be great for a single speed.

Disliked -
- Track felt slow and was vary rare that you could speed up due to badly placed sharp corners, water bars, logs.
- the amount of water bars/logs and the size/shape of them required you to slow right down really bad. Specially on the winding climb in the easy section.
- Did not like the large log roll over before the large berm. The track was very slow there because off it and made such a lovely huge berm redundant.
- The triple rock bed after the large berm. Clould have been better. The rocks where very loose (not bedded yet) and line was tight. Not enough obsticles to prevent riders from going around them and a line was quickly forming on the side.
- Gates open at 10am and a lacking of shade.

In summary, I would have liked more faster open sections. I understand the need to control the water flow but the steep water bars where a little overdoing it. Obsticles such as these and tothers could have been better located.
But I did still enjoy it and look forawrd to seeing how time will play its part on the track. I look forward to returning.

What did you think of that Black Diamond line they where building in the easy run? (2 balance logs and a tabletop jump)

Now you really make me want to check it out... will be about a month till I am down there however.

Seems like it lacks a certain amount of flow....still it may just need some tweaking.

What was the deal with the entry fee in the end? Do you get in free with a NPWS parks pass on the car?

ChopStiR's picture

No idea about a NPWS pass. I would doubt it.

Costs:
$9 to drive in
$30 minibus
$120 coach
$2.50 to walk or ride in
Free to friends of the park

On the day they had free entry between 10 and 10:30. But I believe that was a one off. Funny to see a cue up of cars with MTB's at the gate waiting to get in.
