See you there!
Just another heads up on this one.
I guess the more the merrier to come however we do not know what will happen as we are as new to this as everyone else.
Finally I do not know whether there will be nibblies, but I doubt it.
My interactions with my consituents, including residents on my street and also the individuals I have encountered during my canvassing of Barnett St to gather information regarding the Knapsack project have indicated to me that the notice for the public meeting while meeting councils requirements to alert the public of the impending meeting unfortunately may have missed the attention of key stake holders who would have liked to attend the meeting to ascertain exactly how the project stands to affect the local community.
I raised concerns after the meeting that I thought it was very undersubscribed by local residents and upon investigating why have come up with the opinion that the council notice whilst sufficent in legal terms, failed to alert the public in a manner befitting the high level of interest I now understand exists.
I would go futher to suggest that in the event that an out come is reached on the project in any subsequent council meeting on the Knapsack project that we face the very real possibility of any and all decisions being challenged due to a poor effort in bringing the project to peoples attention.
We know that on the back of the concerted effort of parties both fore and against the downhill tracks that the open debate played out in the Blue Mountains Gazette was indicative of the level of interest in the matter. Yet we witnessed such a meager attendance at the meeting that I feel we owe it to the public to give them a second chance to have input and consult on the matter.
I propose that BMORC schedule an information presentation night at the Springwood bowling club before the next Council meeting on the 23rd of November and that all stake holders be invited along to provide answers to the public regarding the project, we should promote this by way of an editorial price in the Blue Mountains Gazzette and direct the public to our web site so that they are able to get across all the information to be tabled on the night.
If Matt Chambers and Frank Garofallow can see their way forward to chair the meeting and put up all the information again that would be great, in the event they are unable to attend I beleive we should in the interest of the public be able to access the multi-media materials to sufficently demonstrate the project and have people who were not at the last meeting be sufficently briefed to form their own opinions on the matter.
Excellent.
