I would have thought you'd want a granny ring ... then again, with all that weight in the back, I guess you'd want a bit of resistance.
If you had a flat track or a flat section before the steeper bits, then I guess this could be a way to "truck" in some dirt where it was more accessible or off park/reserve etc.
They have an optional attachment for the front. I think you would need a granny ring. I worry that riding out of the saddle with a full load would snap the bike.
The part that got me thinking is tipping the load.
I have worked out the tipping option what you do is you snap on the cranks like your cracking out of the start gate in a 4x race the power transfer breaks the bike into wheelie and the gravity does the rest
