Details:

Well BMORCer's - it's time to relive your childhood (although most of us have yet to grow up) and grab/steal your son/daughters/neighbours/mother in law's BMX, MTB, Roadie whatever and hit the Oaks for some ragged fun Sticking out tongue (Make sure your son/daughter/neighbour and especially mother in law is not on the bike at the time)

Guidelines are:

1) Bike not to be worth more than $200 new or needs to be over ten years old.
2) No disc brakes.
3) You have to carry it out with you even if it is stuffed.
4) All stacks are your own fault for riding such a heap of S*&t
5) No clipless pedals
6) Must be prepared to have an embarrassing photo taken.
7) Anything else I have missed here....................

Extra points for bikes with no brakes, bald tyres, ankle slicing cranks with cotter pins or pedals which only have the spindle left.

Meet at Glenbrook Station for the 9:23 train.

Meet back at Glenbrook for something to eat and revel in the ability to leave your bike anywhere you like and know that it will still be there when you get back!

Who's in?

hathill Not The Faint Hearted Well, what an event, what a turnout! The quality of the steeds presented certainly made up for the lack of quantity. These old machines had already paid their dues in spades on the trails but that didn't stop us brave, but more likely stupid riders...

Were you there and have a story to tell?

Looks like a great day - no excuses for not turning up!

Great ride, what a hoot. Stephen is still an animal on a heap of shit with the chain falling off every 5 minutes.
Pretty funny seeing the old steeds carving the latte drinkers on their Fuel Ex's.
1 broken seat, 1 dented rim that cracked on repair, 1 chain constantly coming off and 5 speed derailleur not really working - no problems with Chuck's beast. And no stacks at all.

It was a classic day for me!! No suspension, slippy plastic peddles, slick rear tyre, frame two inches to small and brakes that needed three or four fingers to pull up!! And three other riders just as crazy to cruise along with. What can I say.

Some of the looks from other riders were just as classic. Not sure what those guys we saw at the bmx hill were thinking when we rocked up so fast and then we started riding up and down the roller.

The video I have is not to bad. The angle was a little low(we fitted to the helmet on the train) and the camera was still a bit loose, but it gives you the idea. Will edit it and post something up.

Goes to show what can be done on an older bike. Helipad to the gate was great, managed to miss any loose bricks(flat square rocks) and held it together on the corrugations. North of 50 and that's because I ran out of gears on the 7 speed.

Summary of the bikes.
J the B had the most expensive bike.
Hathill had the least used bike.
Stephen had the oldest bike.
Chuck had the cheapest bike.

Here's what Hathill put down as key words for the ride. Social, Cheapies, danger, fun, Shitter, social. It was all that and more.

Thanks for the ride guys!!

Really sorry I couldn't make it. Looks like you guys had a great time!

Did anyone set a lap time for the 'helipad to the gate'? Next year maybe...

Chuck's picture

No real lap time recorded. I have video of it, about 9:10. Although I went out first then waited for the others to pass me.

29min, but going the other way.
