Sunday, MT York, Lockyers and Cox's!

Well, after getting over a nasty virus and looking at my bike as a tool to go out and have fun on, rather than an obstacle to get into my wine cellar, things were looking like a quite sunday( church in the morning followed by contemplation of my sins), when out of the blue, Jeff rings me and mutters a few words, " narrow neck and Mt York", not needing further motivation, the decision was made, Mt York!
So of we go up the yellow brick road, towards the upper reaches of the wonderful Blue Mountains, on the way we decided to do Lockyers down and back, then pop over to Cox's for some technical challenges, unfortunately for me Lockyers decided to extract a price for our tresspass, only after 15 minutes, No back brakes!..after a quick check, it was found that the back pads no longer existed, they were replaced by a spring and metal plate, thinking that this was no good, Jeff and i decided that surgery was required to salvage this situation, problem solved, put front pads on back and vice-a-versa, only problem now is no front brakes and about 1/2 a millimetre of pad on the back, and we had heaps of descending and techy riding to get through, before we got to the famed rock chute we ran into J the B, uncle Jim!, and he is out riding with 2 lovely ladies!, been wondering why we haven't seen him on our rides for awhile!
After chatting for awhile we all parted and it was time for Jeff to face his nemesis, which he attacked straight away and did it with ease, it was now time for me to hit it, thinking that i have no front brakes this could be awkward, after doing it once we both backed up to repeat it this time for the video's, all ended well with no blood spilt, then it was time to head down past the staircase and hit the downhill to the bottom, this became quite tricky because near the end my rear pads decided that they needed a siesta, after nearly ending up in lithgow and an impromptu visit to Flynny country!
Crisis averted it was time to get back up to the top of Lockyers and go and explore Cox's, Cox's being very steep and rather technical, i started thinking this might not be such a good idea, but it was out there and boys being boys there was no backing down( maybe some tumbling down though), after arriving at cox's and seeing climbers everywhere i though " this is going to be good", until we ran into a bogan on a bike who proceeded to tell us everything about bikes there is to know, now that we were up to spec and feeling armed with bike knowledge, it was time to enter into cox's jaws!..Only problem now is that brake pads acnt take this kind of steepness and momentum, afetr almost coming undone twice we managed to get about halfway down it was time to head back up, the Evo could not be stopped!!
After ending our day and arriving back at the car i figured we have to organise a ride that involves Down Lockyers, up Lawsons Long Alley, down Cox's and up Lockyers, this would be an epic day but also an exhilirating one!
Anybody interested should cast comments!!
