I'm looking for a longer stem than I currently have and am hoping someone out there has a spare they can lend me for a couple of weeks so I can see how it feels before I go off spending money on one.

So heres what I am after in an ideal world

1 1/8 steerer
25.4 bar
approx 6 degree slope
120 or 130 mm long

If you have something like this sitting around your spare parts box and are happy to lend it too me for a couple of weeks plese PM me.

Any variations on slope or length will be good as long as it is longer than 100mm.

Cheers

Stuart

i heard from your wife that you could do with about 30mm more in length and also a few more degrees in the angle too! now who left himself wide open for that one???

That steerer looks a little narrow too, well, compared to what's up front of me when riding Laughing out loud

the other morning too, or was it while she was wiping your ar$% you one armed machine (I might also note that since your "accident" your appendage has never been so stiff), oh yeah but then you woke up from your dream

Rob, well what can I say. I'm flattered you took the time to look last time I had a trail side leak, but a little concerned that you obviously haven't had your eyes checked in the last few decades. Remind me not to ride in front of you, goodness knows where that figment of your imagination would end up when your poor eyesight causes you to rear end the bloke in front, hey maybe you should ride behind the Gazzanator, I hear he needs other people to look after that side of things at the moment.

If I understand you correctly you currently have 100mm (3.9 inches) and you are looking for 120mm to 130mm (4.7 inches to 5.1 inches).

From experience I recommend you get something a little longer, it might be a bit harder to manuveur in the tight stuff but once you get behind it and get a bit of speed up you'll love how it feels.

i might have what your after on my kona, but i'm not sure...it may take me a littlie time to get the bike as its at my mates place. left it there after i had my accident. if it fits the bill you can use it for a while, i'mm off the bike for at least 8 weeks or so....what stem does you kona have? my guess is that i may get my hand on the bike on the weekend? i'll have to get back to you then. in the meantime good luck with your search.

As far as I can tell it's a stock Kona stem.
Measures 100mm from centre of steerer to centre of bars and has about a 6 degree upslope, although thats a little hard to measure accurately on the bike.

There is no rush with this one, just something I am playing with. Thanks

playing with it sam! pnarr,pnarr!

Stuart M's picture

If I were "playing with it" in that smutty context we all know you meant surely it would be getting longer all on its own, well so to speak.

Now can we get this back on topic or do I need to put you in your place again Flo?

GAZZA's picture

according to the scientists that developed viagra, that is not the case with men as old as you!

Stuart M's picture

I too thoroughly research all the medicines my doctor prescribes for me although I haven't yet had to look up this "viagra". What did he prescribe that to you for, was it for the hair loss or your impotence?

GAZZA's picture

hey mate, i might have a problem with the former but certainly not the latter!

Sounds like you hit a nerve Stuart!

but I'll certainly claim rounds 1, 2 and 3.

Neeeeeext!
