Looking at purchasing some avid elixir cr Mag brakes from a friend who has no use for them.

I currently run avid juicy 7 with match maker brackets and SRAM x0 9 speed.

Research I have done tonight indicates that the avid elixir cr brakes have a new U-Clamp which is MatchMaker X (MMX) compatible.

my question is can these brakes be mounted on my existing matchmaker brackets with SRAM x0 9 speed shifters ?

Do I have to buy new matchmaker x brackets and if so will these be compatible with my SRAM xo 9 speed shifters ?

I am hoping there is someway I can use a matchmaker bracket (old or new style) as I prefer the uncluttered look and it allows Brake levers to be mounted further out on the bars.

Elixir CR Mag is compatible with the new MatchMaker X. The new MatchMaker X (MMX) elegantly mates with all SRAM triggers and/or the RockShox PushLoc remote to create the most ergonomic, functional cockpit ever.”

Does 'ALL SRAM TRIGGERS' mean older models X0 9 speed and new models X0 10 speed XX etc ?

I'm pretty sure I've used matchmaker with my Elixir CR Mag and X0 trigger 9 speed. I currently use it with the brakes and pop loc as I now use grip shift.

Ok - visited CBD in the city today to get to the bottom of this.

Answer is for Avid elixir cr Mag and Sram XX brakes a new U-Clamp bracket is used. This bracket is compatible with the MatchMaker X (MMX) brackets not the old match maker brackets that were used on the Avid Juicy brakes.

All (9 speed / 10 speed) SRAM matchmaker compatible shifters are compatible wit hthe old and new types of match maker brackets.

So for me this means - if I want to use new Elixir CR Mag brakets, I need to also by new Match Maker X mounting brackets to use with my existing Sram X0 9 speed shifters.

Very confusing - but glad my LBS could help with this situation.

And before you ask - Yes I invested some hard earn at the LBS whilst in there as a thankyou for their information.

Sometimes everything is not available on the web.
