Glenbrook station carpark.
After being reminded about this on the Wednesday night ride, it's time to put it up for next year to give you all a chance to drag out your secret weapons.
Guidelines are:
1) Bike not to be worth more than $200 new or needs to be over ten years old.
2) No disc brakes.
3) You have to carry it out with you even if it is stuffed.
4) All stacks are your own fault for riding such a heap of S*&t
5) No clipless pedals (unless the bike came with them originally)
6) Must be prepared to have an embarrassing photo taken.
7) Anything else I have missed here....................
Of course these are only guidelines and are pretty flexible. Just don't turn up on your full carbon MTB unless you want to be sweep!

NIce to see the numbers steadily increasing - seriously hope the weather clears up for this or we'll need to book the rescue chopper!

I used to have one of those when i was a kid, minus the disc brake though, wow!
As for the chopper, we cannot do!. The RAAF does not have a chinook as far as im aware.
I had a 1997/8 FSR Ground Control! Sold it to head to Sth America.

Im going with my trusty 20yo Avanti pro series comp, with the original clip less pedals. I know the rules say no to clip less, but these are original and that's what im using.
That's fine - I modified the rules to exempt bikes that came with clipless or variations on that theme from new. I'll probably have to add cable disc brakes for next year.
This will be a good opportunity to have a chat about the upcoming council meeting etc etc too.
I love the theme. The crapper the bike the better. Plus gives a reason to do mods to your crapper to get it running.
I like the idea of not allowing disc brakes. It adds a real retro feeling. The older the bikes get, the more interesting the ride will be. Maybe, eventually non disc brake bikes will be owned and restored by real enthusiast who want to ride in events like the BMORC Bash. How about a pre disc brake, pre suspension marathon?
Maybe we just set an older than year 2000 limit?
Who is going volunteer to be the adjudicator?
I could see an opening for a vintage bike authentication certificate to be issued. I'm good with paper and crayons.
Can anyone do better than my full rigid, non disc, 1992 hard tail? I tell you it's one of the most reliable bikes I have ever owned. Full xt which cost $2500 twenty years ago.
Sounds like your bike is over qualified Char. The definition of better in this event would be a 1992 Huffy that cost $99 at Kmart. Bonus points if the decals are still on the Huffy.
Just goes to show that some things are better with age. It's got the original cables so there is always the chance of one snapping.
So Jim - carrying some spares this year? Rob will need some brake cables and I may need a seat post bolt or two!
Still waiting to see if I can do this and my bike is a earily 80s 27x1 1/4 flat bar.Had it from new was my commuter to work after school.Its had a new seat 15yrs ago but I had to do the cables and brake pads.
just doing a little maintenance before I can get on it.....wheels are buckled beyond my repair skills.
Anyone else riding a bike from the mid-1980s era.
I have an old wheeset I pulled of an old dually Haro. Rims are worn out from the brake pads but it still might do the job.
Full rigid, 18kg... 2 years older than the 1992 one!

The inner nerd in me was just working out that if we get the full 16 to turn up, we have squared the 2011 turnout. If this enthusiastic participation continues, it'll only take two years to get to 65536 participants!

I was thinking the same thing Char, just some drop bars needed. Reminds me of when I converted my Dragster to a BMX in 1981.
Just a heads up regarding the train - There is trackwork betwen Central and Penrith so the times may shift a bit(That's also providing Cityrail let everyone on the train).
I'll be starting from Woodford to avoid having to cram on the train with all you punters

I propose we aim to catch what would be the 6:53 from Glenbrook - at 7:33 assuming this is the correct time. Can everyone make this earlier train? I'll still be starting from Woodford.
I am going to start from Woodford as well. If trains are an issue I might ride back up the oaks again (bike permitting).
Ok for me, ill be there at 7am if its not raining.
Wait a moment. So a 8.23 train has now become a 7am train??? Can we all agree on some kind of a time at glenbrook, then we'll catch the next rattler out of glenbrook to make it easier?
I'm good anytime early, maybe just make an executive decision on the departure time, I'm sure most people will be flexible.

Yes Giles, I'll have the tool bag on the rear rack again. Brake cables and seat post bolts are in!
I've got the same rims that I flattened and cracked last time, so I'm NOT gonna keep the city slicks on this time. Might swap to a large-bagged knobby for the rear, just to make sure.
Given the difficulties with the train - this may be difficult to answer - but - what is the anticipated start time from Woodford.
Im from the other side of the Sand Curtain and aim to start at Woodford.
Is the meeting place the start of the Oaks ?

I think we should plan to be at Glenbrook at 7am seeing there are going to be network delays.

I've never seen it above the raised footpath. I take it 0.4 means carry the bike across???

Im a bit worried if I will be there and if so how it will go.
The Chain ring I ordered looks as though it has been lost in mail transet. So I will be borrowing some shorter chain rings screws of JP friday morning. Friday Night will hopefully be the first day I finish my SS conversion. Straight into an Oaks BMORC Bash for the test run the following morning.
Fingers Crossed it works out.
Tonight's ride got to this point of decision making, as city rail is unreliable most of us have opted to drive. I have two seat and bike spots left in the wagon. Let us know if you need a lift and live from blaxland up.
On another note, in regards to your chain ring bolts, file them down it works a treat and is a fully bash approved modification!

Well - it's decision time.
I see a few people are keen to start early - we were discussing this last night and thought it may have been easier for the Sydney participants if we started later i.e. catch the 9:03 out of Glenbrook and all meet at Woodford around 9:30.
