Did anyone go to the recent Giant 'Test Weekend' based around Ourimbah & Awaba?
I'm keen to hear about the new full carbon frame XTC 29er, and also the new XT or XTR drivetrain.
Anyone?

Didnt end up going cause they didnt have the carbon trance ,but bought one anyway & the carbon is amazing the xtr is awsome & Giants all the way .I was unsure about switching t carbon but im so happy I did .
Did you use to run the previous XTR drivetrain? Any comparison notes?
I'm considering my next upgrade (from my current 2009XTR) to the new generation XT with the fancy XTR deraillier. It will last another year, but by then lots will need fixing. (BB, chainring or 2, cassette...). May as well get a groupset deal with a double chainring the size I want!
I'm having trouble finding weights for the new XT/XTR components.
Rode the XTC 29er Composite and said it was awesome.
If you convert that bike to Tubeless and put some Stans 29 rims on it, plus a carbon seat post, stem and bar and it will be sub 10kgs easy.
Considering getting one myself.
Want to test a few giant's myself - will have go and see the LBS. Will there be one coming to Perth?
I'd have wanted to try the Trance too.
Hi - I was there, but didnt ride anything. Jenny (other half) rides an XTC 29er with full XTR on it - with Stans wheels too - and its about 9.2kg.
She loves it, but its certainly a racers bike. The geometry is pretty aggressive and full on. Not a bike for cruising around I dont reckon, so if you want a racer, buy one. We are in Canberra this weekend and I popped into Onyabike here, and they have then reduced to $2300!
Her XTR is awesome. Gears work - no drama there, but the brakes - they are the show stopper. So incredibly good. Perhaps too good for some, as one light flick of the finger, and you're over the bars! Ask Jenny!
XT works exactly the same, just weighs a bit more, and theoretically doesnt last as long. I dont really beleive that bit, but it certainly works perfectly, and the brakes are basically the same.
had 2010 xt b4 & 4 me there's no comparison .
Thanks to Ant - The little insight sounds interesting.
I'll have to get a test day in the future. For the time being, I'll stick with my Anthem. Maybe next year? The XTC 29er looks very interesting to me.
