Track classifications
New to this site and MTB in general. Having a look at some of the tracks but am having difficulty in working out if, well basically, if I'm fit enough for them. I have seen under 'List of Tracks' there are colours beside some tracks in a column marked difficulty. So my questions are,
Is there an easy way to determine how:
a) difficult a track is(fitness required)
b) difficult a track is(technically)
c) what do the colours mean
Cheers
Ren

The colours are just the status of the track whether it should be ridden or not because of its condition. Green all fine, amber some issue such as mud or trees down, red its just too wet or overgrown or whatever.
Best way to determine what a track is like is pretty much ask the question. This is probably the best way for the technical nature of it. They can change a bit as well whether they have been recently graded or not.
For fitness if its an out and back trail such as Narrow Neck, Hanging Rock at Blackheath, Mt Hay Rd... then you can start riding it and just bail and turn around when you feel you are done in.
The Fat Hippy site has a pretty good discussion on the mountains trails...

Thanks moggio, I have seen the Fat Hippies site and agree it's pretty good. Still hard to determine if the track is a bit out of my fitness level and if my old hard tail is out of it's league. But I will take your advise on asking about different trails. Cheers Ren
You can also check out www.trailflix.com.au which list most of the tracks that are on BMORC, it has detailed description and rating etc.
If you are not sure about a particular trail Ren, just post up a question and someone here will let you know more. Let me know if there is a trail you want to explore and I'll be happy to tag along.
Stop being a baby Kev. Get out there and get fair up it!
Don't worry about being spoon feed information. Just get out there and explore
