I am in Lee, i will get Jeff in on it as well, i have ridden there twice, Jeff once, he has a lovely map of the place, there are some wonderfully hard technical challenges at this place, so bring as much travel as you can!
What would be good if Grant (crank1979)could guide us, he knows the place backwards!
I normally start at Boronia
https://maps.google.com.au/maps?saddr=Peter+Mead...
or Old Kent
https://maps.google.com.au/maps?saddr=Old+Kent+R...
I start at old kent as well!
Al, you know this place pretty good, i would imagine Gab does as well!
Hah, to be honest I've never been to Kentlyn! Looking forward to it though
I know it enough to know when I'm lost
Ok i will bring Jeff and we should be ok, i been there twice???
Sorry Michael I know I said I would be a guide there but I really can't miss the only day in front of the TV being Bathurst. Have ridden there probably 20 times over the last couple of years and would recommend the Rock Trail as one of the best 6km loops around. It has recently been extended so enjoy. And don't be nervous it is not as bad as Todd says, no more than Knapsack and probably twice as good. Also do the creek trail and cross Peter Meadows road to ride that end of the tracks as well. You should get in around 20 to 25km of trails without crossing the same one twice.
Starting at Boronia is better.
This is the 28th Vince - 3 weeks away
Are you OK for that day - you make a lovely tour barbie
OMG Vince, you had me just about to quit out, i miss bathurst for nobody, its a time for waking early sunday morning and cooking meat all day, bacon and eggs for brekkie, kebabs for little lunch, staek and some green type garnish for big lunch then followed by more leftover kebabs for arvo tea, at about 4.30-5.00 oclock i have massive belly ache but lots of iron in my system!
No way I would post a ride to conflict with Bathurst.. go Lowndes!
Why not Gilbo? I have, but I'll be home for most of the race.
This is true, but I would hate to miss the whole race.
You sound as bad as my wife Gilbo. She hogs the remote when Bathurst is on.
Michael when we spoke about this a week ago I thought you were talking about last weekend just gone. Might still not come though as I may race Yellomundee that weekend, depends on if I race the week before or not.
We were talking about it Vince, but we decided to go to Lazo instead.
I'm out Got a mates wedding in Wollombi on the Saturday night, so I won't be in any condition to ride!
Oh yeah baby, Grant is coming and we now will be able to ride it all, and just for good measure watch Grant as he effortlessly rides the techy stuff, has a wonderful riding style, one of the better riders i have ever come across!..not a bad bloke either!
Geez the pressure is on now!
And how!!!..giddy up!
we still on ? are we meeting at Boronia ?
I'm out, sorry.
Yep, all good to go. Sorry to hear you cant make it Crank, Todd has spoken highly of your knowledge of the local trails, hopefully next time!
Weather is looking good, forecast for Sunday is a bit cloudy but no rain predicted. Was concerned we might get washed out.
Nerf - as per majority feedback meeting point is Boronia Rd.
will see if Jeff is coming, otherwise i may need a lift, any takers, cant promise i wont fart in your car!!!
Sorry again. I can make it on Sunday. See you guys there.
I'll park at Old Kent Rd and Darling Ave and meet you guys at Boronia.
Lets just meet at OLD Kent that way we all start and finish at the same point. Soz Gilbo
Im out, no car, and i have to take wife to airport to have a car for during week, sorry guys!
I'm pulling out also, I've been getting chest pains with deep breaths so I'll be seeing a doc instead
Great ride today, big thanks to Grant for showing us around the trails. We took your advice and explored the trail beyond the two sandy chutes and found even more technical single track goodness to ride.
Hope everyone who had a stack, fall or tumble (me included) today is not feeling to worse for wear tomorrow.
Stay tuned for the next social ride posting, likely late November..
Kentlyn rocks!!! And there are lots of rock, big and small ones. If you ride technical XC and like rock, then go there. Thanks to Gilbo for another great ride. Had lots of fun following you around.
Big thanks to Grant for the tour today.
See you on the next ride.
So it DID turn out to be pretty technical?..kicking myself that i couldnt make it!
Kentlyn is a track that you would enjoy Todd. No real big climbs either.
I can hear that EVO bike of yours bitching in the shed now.
Thanks for the ride guys. Lots of fun. We'll have to start from OKR next time to get a bit more singletrack in.
Good day & thanks for showing us around Grant & yep, keen to try the start from OKR.
Thanks fellas ... was a good ride and my legs aren't killing so a good pace too
BTW
23rd Nov there is an overnighter at wingello
Plan is for a night ride, camp and day ride next morning. More the Merrier
Other suggestions for the next one
i) Rydal
ii) Welby
iii) I know a couple of Northern Sydney ones
The new trail in Hornsby is due to open soon. This may be worth a visit. Its very interesting to ride a brand new trail and then return a year letter and see how its changed. I did this with Mt Annan. Was amazing to see how much had changed.
I'm keen on Rydal as I haven't ridden there before. Welby is pretty good. I'd love a guided tour of Red Hill. I like to ride Wingello with the wife, it's her favourite track, but it's not very exciting. Night riding around Wingello is definitely good though.
I have ridden it 3 times now, i love Kentlyn, followed Grant around there a few months ago, fitness was bad but all that wonderful techy riding was awesome. you guys missed some great track at OKR, very like Appin!
