2014 Silly Mentle 100km/50km
Opposite Glenbrook shops at the Glenrook Park car park, if there is an event on we will meet at the Glenbrook railway car park.
This will be the 2nd running of our BMORC Stinging Mettle race route replica ride. Last year we ran it the day after the original race should have been held which unfortunately was cancelled due to Ingar access issues.
The ride will take us down to Euroka Clearing, we will make our way up Bennet's ridge and the Oaks to Wentworth Falls via Ingar fire trail. There we can meet anyone that wants to do the return leg via Anderson's which may include a KOM challenge out of Bedford creek. Then the home run back down the Oaks single track and then either Euroka via Iron Barks or most likely just back up the gorge to Glenbrook park.
A BBQ will be had at Glenbrook park to celebrate our achievement, I will have a fridge in the car if anyone wants to keep beer or snags etc cold for the day.
This is a social ride not a race, anyone who can do 100k in 8 - 9 hours is welcome. I will be on my single speed for the day and the use of single speeds is encouraged.
Because I wanted to use the spelling.
From Urban Dictionary
Mentle
1. (adj) To be horselike in looks, and have the personality of a shaven kiwi fruit.
2. To be somebody who fails; aka- Stupid, pungent smelling, and unattractive.

I'll be heading for divorce at this rate.....
Send the better half for a day spa treatment..
Might be tempting on the tandem.
I'll join in again for some part of the ride.
Tandem is in.
Awesome Char..
Whats the Tablelands Rd ETA? Thinking I will be only half Silly Mentle.
I'll have a look at Strava from last year Tim. I'll post ETA's for both times we come through Woodford and an ETA for Wenty.
We will first pass through Woodford at 9am
Wentworth falls at the top of Ingar/Tablelands at 11am
finally the last pass through Woodford at 1pm
These are the times we did last year and as you can see that was a fairly sedate pace. If anyone is planning on joining us then we will wait at each of these points, it will also give the slower riders a rest if needed.
Okay - you need a pace setter and I'm it.
Date looks ok at the moment for me, I'll meet up the top.
Tandem is out, 29er now in. Should be all good to meet at Glenbrook.
It looks like we will have a dry sunny day.
I won't have the fridge in the car now so we will just do a bakery run after the ride. If you are desperate for a BBQ feel free to still bring stuff along.
I'll be thinking of you guys as I race around the Awaba track. Hopefully it'll be a dry day for all involved.
Are you racing in the Mont Steve? I know (well last I heard) that Ian was. We'll have to catch up this year.
Sorry guys - just too much to do on Saturday. Good luck for Awaba Paul.
No mont for me. What team have you got in the rt race Paul?
If im not there dont wait, may have to work.
Thanks Giles.
Steve: I'm racing with the Mont Sloggers Too. There's a second 'main' team racing as well. It's a team of six and we're just there to participate and race between ourselves. Raced with them last year for the first time and had a ball. We have a sponsored site (one of the rider's business) and will be camped right on the track, over the fence from the main event centre (down towards the creek). They have a great set up and a couple of non-riders who do all the cleaning and cooking for us - they even have a menu for the food during the time that we're there.
Will be there from Friday lunch through to Monday morning, where we're all planning on doing a Stromlo warm down before heading home...
Should be a blast.
How has the rain been this week? Are we looking OK?
I was on the Colo river for 3 days and we got smashed by rain Wed and Thurs.
It was supposed to clear into the afternoon evening but it's bucketing down in Wenty right now and it's heavy again in Hazo..
Andersons would be waterlogged so unfortunately it's best to cancel this ride.
Maybe I will go try out my new Packhoe and dig some trail instead...
Its been raining lightly but solid since 4pm at Winmalee so I was considering piking it anyway.....
