No more N+1
Over the last 2 years or so I have subscribed to the N+1 theory. I think there has been about 7 bikes in that period.
But I came to the realisation a few months ago that you really can only ride one bike at a time... I found that I was riding one bike most of the time and maybe one other occasionally... so the rest sat in the corner collecting dust.
So I thought long and hard about what riding I really do. I needed a race bike... a top notch race bike... so along came the s-works epic http://nobmob.com/node/44528
The other riding I do is just the rides where you want to have fun... you know the ones where you come back home with a big grin on your face... It is just that I found that the big grin equated to lots of dollars.
So I went on a bit of a selling spree. I have sold two bikes in the last couple of weeks with a further one for sale. So at present I have 3 bikes but it will be reduced to two. The sales have helped (a little bit... !!!) to pay for this piece of carbon goodness....
... just wish it would stop raining for 5 minutes so I can go and ride it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm the same as you in that my trail bike gets far more use than my DH bike and I'm now riding it on the DH tracks.
I'm luck in that mine has an enormous amount of flexibility in that it can be set up with anything from a 140mm-180mm fork, 140mm - 160mm rear, and either 26 or 27.5" compatible.
I'm lucky that I didn't have to go through the buy and sell process.

I would love more bikes, but in the end I found my one and only Giant trance is still a good thing , and it is better than me anyway. I could also get caught up in the fuss over parts and accessories, but in the end I found....just go and ride.... turn the padeals, uphill , downhill , trail , whatever, JUST RIDE.....!the smile is still there.

I looked at a number of 'all-mountain' framesets before settling on this.
I was already a (big) Santa Cruz fan so it ticked that box... but the clincher was that it could fit a water bottle... although it's a very tight fit. I put a side loader in which helps!
Apparently it can fit two water bottle holders ... but I'm buggered if I can work out where the second one allegedly goes????
... and loving the Pikes. I can now see why they have become so popular so quickly!

You've solved another conundrum for me too. I was wondering why it had been raining so much.
Probability of adverse weather rises exponentially with the bling-ness of the bike. It's your fault!
Xmas, on a sant cruz the bottle mount should be on the underside of the downtube - put tin it's back and all will be clear.
They catch a bit of dust and mud, so either drink that one first or empty into the bottle on the. Inside of the downtube
U could be right. There is actually a plastic/rubber rock guard which is on the underside .. Although if there are mounts there they are very close to the bottom bracket. I had a bike with an underside downtube bottle mount... hated it. One bottle mount does me anyway
