Clicking noise from Mavic SLR 29 rear wheel

Hi, just had the rear hub replaced and an annoying clicking noise has started on the rear wheel. It sounds like cross spokes grinding, yet the spokes don't make contact on the cross. Has anyone encountered anything like this with Mavic SLRs? Thanks

You could try:
Slightly greasing drop outs (especially if QR - but may also help if through axle)
Wax lube the spokes where they slot into the hub - they can creak as wheel rotates - you may also want to dry lube where the the spokes fit into the rim - but check this isn't prohibited on Mavic's system.
If any of the spokes touch where they cross bit of wax lube can help.

When they fitted new hub did they use correct torque setting process for tightening the spokes or just tightened them till it ran true?

What axle, QR or ?
Does it do it at all lean angles (from vertical to full lean)?
Under power and/or when coasting - when turning crank with no power being transmitted?

(Mavic spokes are noted for being cross) Eye-wink

My comments may not be current as it has been a few years since I rode Mavic but at one stage I had 3 sets and all developed what is apparently a very common problem for Mavic hubs where they make a grinding sound when you stop pedalling. I don't know why but it was always a simple fix. Once they started to make the sound you pull the free hub body off, get a rag in there and clean the internals, pack it full of fresh grease and off you go. I used to go through this process about 3 times a year on each rear wheel.

That's a consistent issue with Mavic SLR freehubs. No big deal, it's a 5 minute periodic maintenance job. There is a kit available out of the US that replaces the offending bushing with a ballrace for a permanent fix.

The plinking and knocking noise, is it consistent with the speed of rotation? Loose spokes are where I'd look first. Jump on that quickly as it will lead to spoke fatigue failure in no time.

No cracks anywhere?
