I still think the trails on MT york provide some of the best mountain biking in the state with a little bit of everything thrown in.

There are some steep climbs, there are some techi bits, there are some fast flowy grin from ear to ear bits.

The first little climb up to the gate on Berghoffers is a challenge but only short. From there Berghoffers (which was put in as a easier bypass for early motor vehicles) winds up gently to meet up with MT York Road.

Anyone who want to can meet us up at the top Berghoffer car park at around 6:50pm
From here we into Lockyers. This undulates out along the ridge line with some fun downs, some tricky ups and some short techincal challenges before it turns down and a high speed run delivers us at the valley floor at the Cox's Road car park (You could organise a car shuttle and have a car here if you want to avoid the ride up.)

Now we head up Lawsons Long alley. This starts with a pleasant ride up the gully along fire road and single trail. Then it starts to climb and begins to wind the screws right up to 11. The final bit most people walk but it's not overly long

At the top we're back at the top Berghoffers car park and it's a mad dash back down the fire road to the cars

All up the ride is about 20km and usually takes us 2-2.5hrs.

If you want to miss the worst of the ups you could leave a car at the picnic area at bottom cox's rd car park (Picnic area on right between Collet's and Comits Inns, Hartley) and organise a car shuttle up to the top Berghoffers car park (Junction with Berghoffers rd and Mt York road, First left at top of Mt vic pass)
