CRC Differing Prices
NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
I have noticed something very strange with the CRC website prices. They seem to differ depending on what PC you are browsing the site from. For example, the prices are higher when I order something at home than when I am at work.
Also Lozza is checking on his PC at work (mascot) right now and they are higher than what I see here at my work PC (circular quay).
What gives!?
The difference is quite significant too. When he opens the wishlist I sent through to him it comes in at 293 GBP when I see it as 250 GBP!
Anyone experienced the same thing?

Maybe its cookies or something that remembers our shopping patterns? Experts?? Anyone??
I get £293.89
That wishlist gives me a total of £239.06...
I get £239.06 (513.26 AUD)
Whats it worth?
Andrew
This is so so strange.
What special priveledges are you getting Junkie!
First time I clicked the link I saw 250.12 GBP then I clicked it again and got 293.89 GBP!
and now I only get 293.89 GBP everytime using Opera or IE.
Have you checked whether VAT is being applied to the prices? There should be a little symbol in the top right corner signifying whether it is VAT free.
VAT free here and comes up as 250.12
I have to pledge allegiance to the crown every time I buy & order in Afrikaans/Zulu, so maybe they pity me... the whole 3rd world country thing...
Its not just the 'puter you are using. If you look through their specials pages for instance, make sure you select Aussie dollars when you are. See something you like and note the price. Now click on it for the details and the price will be different to what was on the specials page. If you actually then add it to your basket the price goes back to most up to date, which should be the specials. It might have something to do with different stuff being stored on different servers and the two not syncing properly.
I reckon if you note what is in your wish basket, empty it and then reenter everything back into, not from saved links but by browsing again, you will end up with the right prices. Its possible that the "wish basket" stores all the info for the item at the time you put it there, as cookies on your pc, changes in the dollar will then show up when you browse the store but the cost at the time you put it in your basket will have been saved with the item details. When we look at your basket from a different compter its almost like refreshing the list, the current price is pulled
It has been happening for a while that I have noticed but when you actually check out, the sale price is usually what shows up.
Either that or I am really simple and they are having site problems as part of their refurbishment
This is very interesting...
£280.90 (603.09 AUD)
Using both home & work proxy.
I then created an account and voila!
£239.06 (513.26 AUD)
Make sure you have an account and are logged in people!
... 280.90 or AUD $ 603.09...
Bernd
Well just clicked on the VAT Free link....and changed it to English, AUD and Australia.
Now I get 239.06 GBP
Sweet. So Junkie's not so special after all
PS: I am not logged in at the moment Rob. The saga continues
The VAT thing got me for a while, i changed to a different computer and thought that they had put all their prices up!
Are you building up a scummer and just to embarressed to say anything?
Lol no no....that is Loz.
let the abuse begin.
Was about to ask the same thing!
It's important to look good on the trail
Never know who you might run into
You've met lots of E.R. nurses after your rides, whats more, you even got to get the boys out for them
that extra squirt of aftershave down the pants didn't go unappreciated.
Like a good boy scout, it pays to be prepared.
Now, back on topic...
You guys don't think I look this good by accident do you?
How else am I supposed to groom myself whilst on the trail
