Good bike shop?

Just moved to Sydney, i am looking for a good bike shop in the Lindfield area (not one that tries to sell you a new bike each time you walk in) any suggestions?

Looks like you are in a good place for some decent trails there (just over the valley from me
).
The guys down at Bike Addiction are close(ish) to you and are all knowledgeable. http://www.bikeaddiction.com.au/
You also have The Bike factory down on Pittwater road, and a decent little shop called Belrose Cycles up here in Frenchs Forest. There are cranks shops all over the place, a new one in Willoughby just down the road from you.. not been there though.
Everyone else will suggest their favourite shop, BA is probably mine, they have the best selection of decent stuff.

...2 hours at Bike Addiction on Saturday arvo trying shoes and bikes. The guys are great and very accommodating. So far my best bike shop experience. I bought my first MTB bike at Wollys Wheels in Paddo - it's much closer, but not half as friendly and more expensive.
of Supreme at Narrabeen - really helpful and nice and don't try to up sell - mind you St Ives have also been great lately and they are closer to you...
I have found renegade cycles to be very good http://www.renegadecycles.com.au/ now that I ride with the guys most weekends I'm confident that they won't try to sell me a bike or even upsell on the service issues every time i go in there, in fact I have even started chatting to them about their margins. But there is a certain place in Chatswood I won't go to.

I know it's out of your way, but if you are in the city at all, check out City Bike Depot on York St. ( whilst studiously avoiding the bike shop on Clarence St.) No salesmen, just guys who love bikes and the people who ride them. Vastly superior knowledge/attitude ratio than anywhere else I've been. Everyone there is a class act (IMHO...)

its out of the way, but through shear quality, non rip-off ness and price, i like to go to the bike shed mortdale now, im so sick of getting ripped, and these guys really help..and do it real fast and cheap..
I discovered Northside Cycles in Chatswood (not too far from Lindfield) when I was looking for a new helmet. They do Specialized bikes. Though I don't know enough about them to give an opinion

Small story, completely factual:
I bought a pair of Fox gloves from the place in Chatswood. The gloves stitching tore on the first or second ride so took them back. The guy first complained they were dirty and wouldn't take them. I was on my way home from a ride so took them home and washed and returned. He then said he had to return to Fox. What? Can't just give me replacement from the store? Oh well... a month later Fox rep. had been in and I actually got a replacement.
Compare this to another store in North Sydney (and now Willoughby). I bought a pair of Scott gloves from them ages ago. These too were defective. I returned to the store with smelly gloves, they were exchanged immediately no questions asked.
I just remembered I have to exchange a pair of Fox shorts in Chatswood as I got the wrong size, I haven't worn them so I hope I can still exchange them after reading Rob's story !

Right off the topic, but I have a pair of Fox Shorts, expensive at around $140 and all of the zips broke the first time I tried to use them, and lots of the stitching has gone. I lost the receipt so wasn't able to take them back (to Brookvale Bike shop as it happens), so it's no reflection on their service, but the shorts are pretty badly made I reckon. Just in case anyone cares
LadyToast> you're very right, I first picked up a Fox pair of shorts and there were only those metal buttons on one side, not the other (if you know what I mean...) so I had to pick another one. That's a pretty serious production error from Fox there...
