Details:

ok here is a the Race+Ride or Ride or Race only option for the Nobmob girls group
here is the official planing:

Registration: 8am to 9am

Kids Racing: 9am to 9.30am

All other Racing: 9.30am (Starting with A Grade through to Novice with about 1min intervals between grades).

Cost: $10 each for 15 years and older. $5 each for 10 years to 14 years. Under 10's free. If you aren't a member of MTBA then a day licence will need to be purchased this will cost $15

More info can be found here WSMTB Club

The plan is simple:
The girls who are keen to give a mtb race a go should come on the morning of the 26th and register (I will be there no matter what Smiling )
Then after the race we can have lunch together before we go out again at 2pm for a strolling ride around the course and maybe have a look on other tracks
the course is easier than Manly !
so if you are keen to do the Race/ride or just the ride but you want to have look at the race: you should bring some food and water (helmet gloves tubes and pump) !
cya girls there Smiling

Is it worth getting a race licence ? Do you need it for all mtb events or just a selection? If I understand the various websites correctly it would not also cover road or track events?

If you do at least 6 or more races a year then it will start to save you some money.

You will need one for most events the only race I have done where I didnt need one is the Dirtworks.

The MTBA License wont cover you for road, track or BMX events but you can up size it so it does.

From memory it is cheaper to by the CA license (Road/track) and the upsize it to MTBa for an extra $40 than it is to buy the MTBA license and then up size it to include CA.

There are several advantages of having a full license.

1. Day Licenses cover you for 4/5 of freak all. No ambulance cover, no out of medical cover, no income loss cover....

2. A day license goes $3 to club for admin fee the rest to the insurance company... ie it does nothing for the sport.

3. A full license gives you ambulance cover and some out of medical and some income loss protection (Still advise to have you own insurance to get full coverage)

4. A full license can give you coverage while training (isn't every ride a training ride) Check policy which can be found on the MTBA site for full details

5. In Buying a full license you also join a club. This gives the local club better resources and power in numbers.

6. Part of the money from full license goes to insurance, part goes into MTBA administration (including trail advocacy work) and part comes back to the state in the form of a state development fund which is to be used to "provide a lasting benefit" to the sport in that state.

so in short neither you or the sport get anything out of a day license so unless you were only doing 1 or 2 races you would be mad not to take out a full license

I can only do the ride now. I've got someone staying with me until Sunday morning.

Unfortunately can't make it this time, but count me in for the next ride - had a great time at Manly Dam last month!
