Hi Gang, I want to get another set of wheels for my 29er mtb and put a set of slicks on them - I love it so much I dont want to ride my roady anymore! Smiling

Any recommendations for a good quality strong set of rims and also good slick tyres?

Also, slightly off topics, I put my Woodford to Glenbrook ride up on www.videotime.com.au for those of you who are interested. 58 mins ride time.

Cheers

I've got Continental Grand Prix 4000s Black Chilli on Mavic Open Pro hoops on my 'dale. Although it's not a 29er the 700c's and slicks still fit fine. I get lots of funny looks from roadies who haven't seen a Lefty before. Laughing out loud

WTB do some reasonably priced rims for 29ers, Dual Duty I think they're called. I ran them for a few months with no issues at all. Have to check what tyres I ran for commuting (still have them I think if you're interested) but they were slicks on the centre with small knobs on the outer for grip in looser corners. I did a little bit of running through a park on the way to work so they were perfect.

Schwable Marathons are great. They are puncture resistant, roll well had have a reflective strip all the way around them. They are a 700c tyre, but I have them on my 29er with my mountain bike rims. Expect to pay about $70 each though.

Yeah I use the same..... next time I will run a thinner version, I think mine are 40 wide. Very fast and robust and the reflective stip provides extra Bling.
