Ride Database Entry:
Kinross State Forest
Meeting Point:

The city of Orange is around 4 hrs from Sydney and 3 hrs from Canberra. Kinross State Forest is situated on the northeast edge of town, a 10 minute drive or 20 minute ride from the Orange town centre.

Meet at the Bulgas Road carpark, Western edge of the forest.

Drive out from Orange on the Ophir Rd, before you reach the rubbish tip, turn right onto Bulgas Rd. Follow this about 2km to the forest (the road turns to gravel).

Note that the 'Directions there' google maps link below may not give the best route/destination. It seems that google maps ignores Bulgas Rd when selecting a route and gives the next closest spot. The 'Meeting point' link should be correct.

1st place BMORC, Welby 7hr

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Round 4 of the SRAM Singletrack mind series was held at Welby in the Southern Highlands.

Having raced at Welby last year, I knew what I was in for; not huge amounts of climbing but technical pinchy climbs that really sap the legs. Getting flow and holding momentum is really hard at Welby. In saying that, it is a really fun track to ride around - perfect place for a social ride to take on your mates.

On Saturday afternoon Craig and myself headed out for a couple of recce laps. The course was dry, dusty and loose. It was fun to ride around but would prove to be a tough racetrack.

3rd place for BMORC - Awaba 7hr

For some reason I can't link to the original calendar entry through BMORC but below relates to this race; http://nobmob.com/node/42470

Round 3 of the Singletrack Mind series was back at Awaba. Awaba is a really fun track to ride and pretty fun to race on too.
Craig and I headed up on Saturday and got in a couple of recce laps - luckily we did; Camel Back was bunted off, forcing you up Straw. There was also a new section of track not long after that was loose, off-camber and quite technical. Great for riding, not so good for racing with people of differing abilities around.

The main rd in has been dusty as all get up so in an effort to keep on the good side of the locals it might be best to come in via the showground.

Go around the top side of the show ground and follow the road around to the left. This will take you around towards the top side of the cemetery. from there a couple of cross rd will bring you back tot he bicentennial trail and thus the car park

The SRAM Singletrack Mind Series features six mountain bike endurance events, of 7 or 8 hours duration. They will take you to six different locations in NSW and ACT, each one renowned for its flowing singletrack and fun factor.

The new course at Rydal was a great hit with competitors last year, with its serpentine singletrack and fantastic event centre at Rydal Showground. The great crew from Central Tablelands MTB Club and the Rydal community are looking forward to welcoming us back in 2012.

See http://www.chocolatefoot.com.au/singletrack-mind... for all the info.

Central West Off-Road Bicycle Club have been instrumental in developing a large network of trails close to Orange in Kinross State Forest. They'll be providing a purpose-built enduro loop for the race, and with the wide range of options for accommodation and gourmet food in Orange, this is an event not to be missed!

Fun one

A good strong roll up for this one. Looks like as day light increases so does rider numbers.

Just before the start I realised I had gotten oil on my pads. The rear was doing nothing, the front was best described as a speed retardation device.

For once I got in a small warm up and after the last couple of weeks of sprinting off the start and blowing up halfway around the first lap I tried to settle down on the start and build into it.

For Our Winter Series we're planning around with lap options and formats
Dan has a little track on his property.

This one is shorter than the other 2 loops we'll be using but it's a tough little trail with some very fun bits
Track runs anti clockwise
Note!
This is private property and only open to ride on club days. Please respect the place and make sure we clean up after ourselves.
