Blood, sweat and banana bread

Great riding, nice to meet some new faces. I think we all left a bit of claret on course today - thanks Naz for playing guide-I hope you heal up quickly. Great little ride with some techy bits to keep you on your toes, but the deal sealer is the coffee and banana bread (or gigantic burger) at the end.
See you guys next time

Morning Scribble

Introduced my girlfriend to the magic that is Scribblies this morning. She loved that little rolling top loop, and I couldn't get her and her orange Stumpie off it. Great morning, and we were finished just before the clouds rolled in and the world turned to drizzle.

good first event and happy to finish with a half decent looking time, learnt a lot from this and will take that knowledge to the fling, time wise for the fling? i think the hills will decide!

Next year........

Some things I've learned this weekend...

Mobs of kangaroos get spooked very easily and are very, very bad at emergency stops.
Just because it's easier than the Doctor/Dirtworks/Fling, that in no way makes it easy.
Just because it's flat, it doesn't mean it's easy..... it just means you have to pedal continuously.
35km off road in 5 months is not nearly enough preparation for a 100km race.
No amount of high intensity 60 minute commutes will save you when it's decision time at 75km.
It's best not to have flu in the 10 days before the race.

Tougher than expected

That was harder than I expected. Because it was relatively flat, you were on the gas pretty much the whole time.

Balinese Dirt Jumper

Just got back from a business trip to Bali (yes, it was a business trip). Couldn't pass by without taking a photo of this little DJ weapon...

Challenger missions at Mt York

I roll the Spark out of the dungeon and across the frost on a run to the bakery for some cross-country shuttle supplies. It's nippy. When you do early morning rides in Blackheath you need some specialised gear: sure I look like an 80's tennis star, but the woollen head band that the girfriend knitted stops the ears from freezing solid.

When I get back with the baked goods Andy's already here (he's always early), and we load my bike and head off for Mt York.
