Bloots new N+1(-2+1)
Thanks to Tristan at Bikeminded in Wenty for offering me this at a great price
And all the crew there backing it up with great service
Swapped some of my parts over and completely botched one bit at 5.15 last night
Raced down there and Simon was on his own with 3 people waiting
Still managed to sort me for it's maiden voyage at Scribbs this morning
A few tweaks and upgrades in the future to shave a bit of pork - all part of the fun
But need to sell my old stumpy with the new gear on it
Swap out some parts to get my GT Zascar trail worthy
And sell them both to get some coin together
Then swap my barby for a mates Alias so Michelle can get out on the rare occasion

Rides like a dream young Andrew, love the look of it as well, not that i am impartial to a stumpy that is, loving the build mate, maybe new shifters and that thing will really sing!...I really like those forks too!
Very nice Bloot.
Its very nice, almost too nice a bloody finish... who would want that scratched! But it will take a while till its a deBloot bike.... needs some BMORC and Skull stickers I think.
I forgot to ask for a turn today... I found Todd's like riding in jelly on sofa that I was just to weirded out to ask.
BMORC = Team Spez
Nice Bloot Nine or 10 Speed?
I'm thinking once I wear through all my gear
Going to Sram 10 speed
Will be a while down the track though
You 2 have convinced me that looking at a 6" bike is way too much for what I need, and I really don't want to be dragging the weight around. I think a 120-140mm will be much better.
Now to hide the money away so I can actually buy one............ and decide what to get. Those Stumpy's are starting to look pretty nice................
Too bad I'm not ready to buy yet, cause there seems to be some good deals floating around.
Ian
The stumpy's are absolutely awesome, andy's rides like a dream, mine is a bit softer with 150 of travel, but it climbs awesome and weighs only 12.47, lighter than andy's bike, but andy's feels like it climbs like a mountain goat, it feels awesome!
And I'm a convert to the propriety Triad shock
Even better than my 09 RP23
I reckon 120 -140mm max is perfect for you Ian
I like 140mm because it has a bit extra to get me out of trouble when I get in over my head
120mm is lighter and will climb better in comparison, but may feel a bit overwhelmed if you take a bad line down a gnarly rock garden
And 150mm, well that's for Todd who likes to bomb down stuff
Although as Todd says, his is lighter and actually climbs at least as well, most likely better than mine
But light weight + long travel = more $$ (although Todd got a great deal)
There will always be good deals around when you've got cash in your sky rocket Ian
See Tristan at Bikeminded and mention BMORC if you're up this way - see what he can do
Must be the season, but every bugger seems to be on a new bike recently
I'm not on a new bike!!!
I'm in no way a WW but baulked at the idea of dragging round a 15+kg Reign. I'm hoping to get something similar to that but in the 13-14kg range. The Scott Genius' seen like decent value and fairly light but I'd have to see them in the flesh, Trek Remedy also looks ok and the Stumpy's are growing on me...........
I need to stop looking at these new rigs cause ill end up getting myself in trouble with the minister for finance and recreation. We've just paid for 3 weeks in NZ over Chrissy/New year so ill have to wait until we get back at least (I'm hitting up Rotorua for 1 day for a spin while I'm there though).
Cheers, Ian
I reckon your reign could get into the 13 or 14 range ... prolly wheels and rubber.
maybe you need a thread with pics and specs
The scott genius is a good bike but very pricey for the spec and that bloody pull shock..grrrrr!
I think for you either a trance, reign or a stumpy is the go, specialized got rid of avanti which have now made them pretty much the same as giant price wise, either the reign or trance or stumpy would be perfect for you, i am so happy with my decision on this one, i think after riding a 15kg hardtail for ages, i think one of these 3 bikes would really kill it for you mate, you love techy stuff, you love d/h, and you like climbing, any of these 3 bikes will eat that terrain, besides, the bike will take you into bigger and harder territory as well!
@Nerf - I don't actually have a reign. I'm just looking at some options for a new bike in the new year and reign is on the short list.
@BM - I think at the end of the day it will come down to what I can get the best deal on at the time. Anything will be better than what I'm on now.
I always like to see what others a riding cause it tends to give a good indication of a decent bike. I saw another Stumpy and an Epic out at GHS Sat morn.
Sorry for the Hijack Bloot!
All this talk about 140mm travel is giving me a bad case of travel envy!
Nice machine BTW De Bloot!
Don't mind about the hijack
But I'm bloody jealous of 3 weeks in NZ
Riding or no riding, North or South island, its an awesome place
The Bloot had a mighty big stack today too... cased a jump and seemed to ride an endo for the next 20ft managing to fall in some bushes relatively unscathed. Was amazing to witness, I was already ready to call in the ambulance before he came to rest. If he had touched the front brake he would have been a broken mess.
Bike probably more importantly was ok too... christened it I guess now.
He laughed like a maniac for 5 minutes after too in the joy of being alive I guess.
Nice bike too... I prefer the slightly less travel compared to Todd's and the narrower bars for general trail riding. Something steep and bumpy Todd's might be preferable to make up for my fear and lack of skills.
"Better to have more and only use a little, then have a little and always want more." Pretty sure that was Shaft, or Magic Johnson ... I always confuse these Great Philosophers
Andy = Endo King
@Al - Some is good, more is better and too much is just right
...six inches is enough to get me out of trouble (or make it worse for that matter!!!)
Nice bike Mr Bloot...need to catch up for another ride so i can check it out.
PM me if you're free for Sunday morn
twas a good stack alright
I thought I was a goner for sure
I don't know if it helped
But the DT Swiss ratchet thru bolt thingy did seem to keep the front quite stable
As I rolled along on my front wheel praying not to face plant
How is the dt swiss thing feeling mate, any more solid?..you have to stop having these stacks, you will end up like me, i have big ones that always seem to have consequences!..shame you cant do the trig ride pal, although lets get a g/brook happening soon, or a daytrip to picton( cant remember the name of the track), will get it up for next weekend!
But I reckon it's much better without being outstanding
Spewing about the trig ride
had every other weekend free
Enjoy the gong ride mate
It's a pretty nice way to spend a day
Nice bike Andy! Love the colour too.
Did someone mention le Tour de Glenbrook? or de Tour de Glenbrook as I say it.
