Come Visit BMORC at the Hawkesbury Show
Thanks to the gracious invitation by NPWS
BMORC have been allocated space within the NPWS exhibit at the Hawkesbury Show
http://www.hawkesburyshow.com.au/
The theme is adventure conservation with BMORC sharing space with the Friends of the Colo (FOC), Nepean Bass Fishermen and local Aboriginal Bushcare and Community groups, along with NPWS displays.
The Information is great, and I took particular interest in how after 10years FOC have been able to make a real impact and form lasting partnerships with NPWS/DECCW with their Willow eradication efforts. And get Heli-dropped into remote areas treat and survey weed colonies, whilst enjoying the recreational activity they love.
The BMORC display has a key message that poor trail design, regardless whether it be walking trail, Fire Trial or MTB trail can be repaired and erosion impacts eliminated, just by using established and sustainable trail building techniques as per the IMBA Trail Solutions Manual. Working together is the key and exclusion only leads to further damage and loses the benefits of Sharing information and Education.
I had a great chat with the several of the rangers and pass on their encouragement that our work @ BMORC is heading in the right direction.
Best day to go will be tomorrow Saturday.

Tell us how it goes Al, sorry I couldn't be there
Fantastic work Al!
Today was a pretty good day. The sun was shining and the wind stayed away until 1pm.
The NPWS stand was really busy which was good to see. A lot of interest in Parks in general and WIRES. I had about 20 people ask questions about BMORC, and 5 people asked about what was going on with the track at OBR, as they couldn't understand why they were closed. 3 of these were couples in their mid 30's with a couple of kids which was interesting. Al's presentation was pure gold- A LOT of people stopped to read.
Hopefully there will be some more people perusing the goodness that is BMORC!
All in all a good day. Anthony with his reptile and native animal show was awesome as usual and drew the punters in big time. The WIRES girls were fun to hang out with and it's always good catching up with the Parks folk. All up an enjoyable day.
A big thankyou to the NPWS (especially Vickii) for asking us to be a part of the display, and to Al for his great presentation.
Yeah big thanks to Vikii for offerring this up to us. Thanks to you guys manning the stand too!
Al's presentation is good isn't it. We need to have that info floating around on the wesite too or as a hand out.
I found it kinda weird looking through the Bushcare pics and seeing so many of us at the Tree Planting day, the Fishing Comp with the local Aboriginal Group, along with the Trail and Erosion workshop we had with Parks.
Some good pics of Mark and Family ... JP actually working hard and my wife and Mother-in-law ... had to double take with those ... best one was the group pic of so many of us at the trail and erosion workshop.
We've come a long way from being called "an environmental vandal with a search engine" to +100 conservationists on wheels ... and growing .
I hope you removed the one of me doing work...I have a rep to protect.
REMEMBER-WORK LESS, PLAY MORE!!!!!
I passed by on the friday. I didn't even know you guys were going to be there but was attracted by the nice looking bike on display. The stall wasn't manned, but the banner looked great and the display very informative. Well done.
I must have been wandering around ... I'm a city dwelling tourist apparently
...And would never pass up the opportunity to fondle some quality livestock I've heard.
