Details:
Meet at Glenbrook and get the 6.53am train up to Wentworth Falls. Come back via Andersons and The Oaks firetrail. I am hoping it clears up a bit until Sunday, I don't intend to ride in the rain.
I have never done the Andersons, but have GPS .
I would appreciate feedback from some of the locals (Chuck, Username2?) whether we can or should ride the trails under the current weather conditions. I would assume that we should probably leave out The Oaks single trail and stay on the dirt road instead.
Cheers,
Volker

What sort of pace are we talking Volker? A quickish one would be good (quick for me that is which is slower than most!).
I've got a Christmas party down in Meadow Bank just after lunch so I would need to be home well before midday. If you haven't ridden with Pedalgogy before - he could do the ride from Wenty down to Glenbrook in under 3 hrs. I'm prob closer to 4 hrs and on the old shitter because I've broken my decent bike.
Put me as a maybe - I'm def up for a ride but might stay local if I'm worried about time.
So far it looks like Sunday will be a nice day. The fire trail dries up really quick. The problem with the fire trail in that area is all the sand will throw up into your eyes and your bike (just bring some glasses). The single track at Glenbrook can be muddy after heavy rain in some sections. I don't ride it for a few days if there has been heavy rain. The only other problem will be the crossings. Its not the depth its flow that might be of some concern.
Definite maybe - I'll even ride my shitter too Ian.
After the rain we had up here last night and the fact that it is still raining now, I think the creek/s will be up quite a bit tomorrow. Be prepared to ride back up!!
In the last 3 hours it has absolutely pissed down. This weather can go to hell!
The adventure race that was scheduled for tomorrow in the Glenbrook NP has been postponed 2 weeks due to the rain.
Any ride this weekend would be a drivetrain destroying experience methinks. I've even pulled the wind trainer out of storage- even though it is as boring as batshit.
We could always follow this environmentally friendly example...

It rained heavy in Glenbrook for most of the night. The causeway will be up at the moment too.
Good news is that I can see blue sky to the west.
The sand on the firetrails will be bad in the morning.
Awesome vehicle! I need one of those !
Taking all the comments together, I am downgrading this ride to a "Probably Not!".
Cheers,
Volker
That said - the sun is shining and there is a stiff breeze up here so if there's no rain overnight......Your call Volker.
I think the biggest issues will be the causeway and damp sand. its been good & sunny this afternoon. but the local sandstone is like a big sponge and will be weeping for a week yet i reckon. i think i'll head out on monday and ride some local firetrails instead.. Have Fun!!
The causeway is currently closed

Went down to the causeway at 6pm and it was 900 mm deep. It should be back down to a few hundred mm in the morning.
News from another local rider was that a couple of riders rode down from Woodford earlier today, they had trouble crossing the causeway and one of them was injured.
I'm out. Need to preserve that drivetrain.
Well, Craig and myself are riding. Might be a bad idea but I've got the Awaba race now on the 18th and have only ridden once in a fortnight so I need to start training again.
Both on the old bikes as both our decent bikes are at the same shop waiting on new frames. Not looking forward to 55km on the mighty clunker.
See anyone at Glenbrook, 6:30, if you're game (or stupid).
Need to preserve those bones. Good luck and fun to anybody going!
See you next time!
Cheers,
Volker
Jeez - you've made me feel like that other creampuff that lives here!
See you as you cruise past my place Ian. I'll try not to hold you up.
I actually saw him today down in the big smoke - we were both doing Chrissy shopping I think. I saw ChopStir too outside the pioneer tavern in his car but he didn't notice me.
We'll give you a shout when we get to your place. I still can't remember the way through the back streets so we'll prob ride down the highway and turn on to your street.
Score....
Andersons - Oaks 1
Bottom Bracket - 0
Gory details and pictures, please!
Not sure what happened with big G's BB but we had a good ride - was pretty fast and tough I thought.
Was good to have a bunch of other blokes out there to give us a bit of a challenge - especially giving them a start on the hill from Bedford and chasing them down, well almost; got most of them. The hardtail made things a little interesting but didn't miss a beat.
Conditions were fine - the creeks were swollen and a few damp spots but nothing bad. Good training ride.
