Ride Database Entry:
Kinross State Forest
Meeting Point:

The city of Orange is around 4 hrs from Sydney and 3 hrs from Canberra. Kinross State Forest is situated on the northeast edge of town, a 10 minute drive or 20 minute ride from the Orange town centre.

Meet at the Bulgas Road carpark, Western edge of the forest.

Drive out from Orange on the Ophir Rd, before you reach the rubbish tip, turn right onto Bulgas Rd. Follow this about 2km to the forest (the road turns to gravel).

Note that the 'Directions there' google maps link below may not give the best route/destination. It seems that google maps ignores Bulgas Rd when selecting a route and gives the next closest spot. The 'Meeting point' link should be correct.

Clean up day at Kinross Forest to prepare for the Singletrack Mind race the next weekend.

I know it's a dirty and thankless task, but it'd be great to see as many boots on the ground as possible on Saturday so that we can get the forest (or at least the most visible parts of it) looking like a location you would actually like to ride in! Our tracks at Kinross are awesome and have had so much work put into them over the years, it's sad to see the environment so degraded...

Forestry are going to put a big skip in the car park area, and they will also pay the cost of a bbq and some drinks.

Please bring gloves - we can provide just a few extras. Wear sturdy boots and protective clothing (long pants/shirts). If you have a trailer or ute that would also be useful for bringing bulky stiff back to the skip. Also if anyone has or can get hold of the reinforced bags they use for Clean Up Australia days and other equipment e.g. rubbish pickers, that would be great.

There are some changes afoot in the way that Forestry are managing the dumping of rubbish in the Forest, and lets hope this is the last time that we will have to do a big clean up at Kinross... hopefully we'll soon get some real action on stopping the dumping out there.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

P.S Bring your bike along for a ride afterwards if you like - plenty of time now with daylight savings. The riding season has well and truly begun!
