New MTB tracks in the Blue Mountains

Anyone have any info or status update on this statement by the SCA last year:

http://www.sca.nsw.gov.au/news/ministerial-media...

Specifically: "A 62 kilometre track from Blackheath to Yerranderie and an 11 kilometre track from Wentworth Falls to South Katoomba are currently under consideration for mountain bike riding access and will be on display for public feedback".

3 cheers for the LBS

Just got my OS order and had a go at putting on my Goodridge full length housing
of course I made a complete hash of it and it wouldn't shift more than 2 gears

After a small tantrum I admitted defeat and took it up to Bikeminded on the highway at Wenty
Tristan, who was about to have lunch, fixed it on the spot (Simon and Aub were busy with other bikes)
I felt a bit better as it was a very fiddly job that took about 15 minutes+

The result is it runs beautifully (within the limitations of the derailleurs)

The Oaks

I'm thinking about hitting The Oaks on Sunday Morning if it doesn't bucket tomorrow/Sunday. Has anyone been up there this week? Is it as wet up there as on the coast after the rain this week?

Oaks ride 19th June

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hi folks,

We're planning on doing an Oaks up and back ride on Sat 19th June. Plan, at this stage, would be set-off from the Euroka campground, up Bennetts ridge and then the main trail up to the gate at Woodford. Return but take the single track at the bottom of the hill rather back down Bennetts ridge, and finally back along the road to Euroka. This is a shade over 50 km and would plan on doing it in somewhere around 3-4 hours (nearer the 4 end, I suspect).

Anyone interested ?

Cheers
Mike

Oaks Trail incl singletrack Sat 15 May?

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

I'm thinking of organising a ride in the easy direction next Saturday morning early. Haven't done it before and my usual ride partner is tied up with work over the weekend.

I hear there are a couple of - ahem! - interesting corners on the fire road descent to catch the unwary. If anyone is up for playing the role of guide, it would be most excellent to have along at least one familiar face who knows the trail, especially the entrance to the singletrack, which is supposed ot be one of the best bits. Smiling

Let me know if you're interested and I'll post it up.

Blue Mountains riders need your help

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Here's news just (well, it's been there a week, but I've been slow) in of a new trail advocacy groups getting started up in the Blue Mountains. One of the founders has described it thus:

The Blue Mountains Off Road Cyclists BMORC has been setup up to be a resource for riders in the mountains. Its aim is to bring together the large number of riders in the area into a more unified community that will improve the social nature of riding and the better sharing of information. Further it will try to become a common voice representing riders to work with council to try and improve the resources for sustainable riding trails in the area.

It's early days as they are just getting started, but at the very least please take a look and if you enjoy riding on the trails up there please give them a hand and show support. There is a 'Register your support' forum here:

P.S. BMORC.com (like NoBMoB, CTMBC and a few others) is part of the Global Riders Network - logins are shared on these sites.

Anyone ridden Andersons Lately?

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

A very good evening to you all...

Has anyone ridden Andersons in the past few weeks?...i see that it was closed for sometime a few months ago and has recently reopened.

Have the bulldozers and clearers been at work and flattened it like they did with The Oaks? Particularly that couple of k's of gnarly downhill to Bedford Creek..is that still the same?

Cheers

Tom
