Running Wild at Knapsack

Every time i ride Knapsack lately there are new trails cut through. A majority of these can be attributed to the various running groups and events they hold, the latest is 'Running Wild'.
Whats the go with local council, it took us 2 years to lobby for trail maintainability and these groups come along and do as they please.

I want to know what the councils stance is on this? Before to long they are going to screw it up for all of us.

Hazelbrook Dirt Jump

Don't know if anyone on here does dirt jump but I walked passed the Hazelbrook dirt jump site last night and noticed council have been in and cleaned up all the scrub (Poisoned the weeds) around the track so it's all pretty open and looking good at the moment. I am more inclined to let my boys go down and mess arounds now.

I figure it's probably one of the only legal dirt jump sites in the mountains, looks like it's getting a bit more use that It usually does.

Cnr Oaklands Road and Hall Pde Hazelbrook if anyone wants to know its location.

Maybe needs an entry in the trail database??

Glenbrook to Emu Plains via Knapsack - tips?

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hi all,

I'm riding The Oaks with some mates on Sunday and plan to start / finish at Emu Plains.

From Glenbrook I'm planning to ride some of the Knapsack trails to link up to the bottom of Mitchells pass. Looking at the maps on NobMob and Google Earth Knapsack does appear to be a bit of a maze.

Can someone familiar with the area give me some guidance; i.e. is it well sign posted, are there any landmarks to look out for to get where I'm trying to go... or should I just throw in the towel and start / finish from Glenbrook?

Thanks in advance for any assistance offered.

Wentworth Falls to Glenbrook via Woodford

I wanted to ride down the Queen Elizabeth Drive, Ingar Fire Trail, up the Murphy's Fire Trail and down the Oaks Trail.
Is this feasible? Is crossing between Ingar Fire Trail near the Picnic Ground over to the Murphy's side OK even if I have to hike-a-bike.
Am I going to get lost? It looks reasonably straight forward
Does anyone want to come?

Where to ride in high winds in Blue Mountains

Hi, have booked a riding weekend in the mountains but unfortunately there are high winds. Can anyone recommend some sheltered tracks and/or that dont have a high tree-fall risk? We had in mind Yellowmundee, Knapsack or Winmallee - would these be OK to ride? (and Narrowneck on Sunday when less windy). Thanks for your advice, Robyn

Touring

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi gang.

I've never been touring / bike camping before but ive been thinking about grabbing some panniers for the bike and heading off for a night or two. Just locally in the mountains region to start with some overnighters to get gear figured out etc and building up from there I guess.

Most of the rides I've got in my head will be predominantly Tarmac and gravel roads.

So basically I'm here asking for ideas, tips, recommended rides and to hopefully enlist some other keen cyclo campers.

Here's what I've got in my mind...

Ride 1:

Mount Victoria - Coxs River Campsite.

Blue Mountain DH tracks Shuttles?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hey guys

New to the forum. My friend and I are heading to the blue mountains from Adelaide, for some riding between 23rd and 26th of July and we are staying in Mount Victoria.

While I love both XC and DH, my friend is a DH man only and we have a shuttle driver Smiling.

So if anyone can give me any info on where to start and where to get picked up for the best DH trails the Blue Mountains and Western Sydney have to offer it would be greatly appreciated. We are competent on DH terrain.

If anyone wants to join us you are welcome.

Any info from locals would be greatly appreciated
