Despite nearly 30mm of rain in the last 24hrs the rangers have confirmed that the trial will be open for the weekend.

Some trail upgrade work will commence mid/late next week on the final section of the Allambie downhill.

Trailscapes team will be working the section from just below the white gate on the firebreak (final left hander).

Saw this today - it's hard to work out but might affect the golf course ST?

...or so it appears, according to the draft 2015 POM:

http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/parkmanagement...

Which is quite inconsistent with their 2011 publication regarding MTB:

Update: Apparently the email address to send them to is submissions.berowravalley@environment.nsw.gov.au, rather than the ones listed below (though why not send them to both...) - thanks Watty

What Mike Baird, Matt Kean, Robyn Parker and Jonathan O'Dea say about the need for mountain bike trails in northern sydney

So seeing as it is election time, here are a few key government figures publicly stated views on the need for mountain bike facilities.

If you see them on Saturday, buy them a sausage sandwich and ask why it's taken so long to achieve so little when our local members (who are in government) seems to unanimously support more trails...and why they think it's acceptable to destroy some of the few trails that we have to make room for the waste from a private motorway project?

Hornsby Mountain Bike Trails - the final stand

"Hi XXXXX,

The future of Hornsby Mtb trails lies in the hands of Council and Matt Kean who will be trying to negotiate with Northconnex to save them.

Some somber news regarding Old Man's Valley. We need your support to counter/rectify the situation to the best of our ability as otherwise it'll be swamped by massive trucks who think that a freeway tunnel is more important than a great community facility that helps thousands of people experience and enjoy the bush, company, fun and fitness.

St Ives - action needed by 27 Feb

Hi all

Kuringai Councils draft plan of management is considering mountain biking given St Ives sniggle cuts through it and they have land at HART.

The sniggle is basically as busy as Manly Dam and we need to ensure that riding is recognised.

There are at least 9000 mountain bikers in this part of Sydney, please make sure Council know they need to be part of the solution by providing trail and linkages to other land managers as part of the whole of government strategy published by NPWS in 2011.

Following on from the thread about Serrata and Gahnia not quite living up to the expectation of a section of the riding population, particulary in relation to flow (here: http://nobmob.com/node/49218), Trail Care has asked that we share our favourite trails both in Sydney, and all-time.

I'll start the ball rolling, although I'm not going to stick to the formula:

Being an IT techie working in this sort of area I found this article interesting. Should be applicable to MTB metrics for legal and illegal trails.
