Parking at bottom of the Oaks?

As you might have seen, our maps now allow for POIs (points of information) to be added and I've put in a few to try and show the way.

Was going to mark the information, toilets and car park at the bottom of the oaks. You know - by the gate on Bruce Road.

However, can anyone please tell me - do you have to pay to use this car park?

The NPWS sign I can see on street view shows parking, toilets and information. I assume there is a tap here too for water, but does anyone have any idea of where to find it? Is there also a picnic area here?

I can't really remember how far along the trail the picnic area by the single track is. If anyone cares to mark that (or any of this stuff for that matter) please feel free (it's in the 'More...' under 'Create...') Eye-wink Laughing out loud

Rob,

you mean the parking lot that was by the ranger hut? If so, no you could get into it without paying. However, the hut's gone now and that parking lot is a construction zone. There's a new lot (temporary I think, but could be wrong) about 100mm back towards Glenbrook.

As for the toilets and that, the building's still there, but it's on the other side of the construction stuff, haven't checked as to if you can still get to it (fence around the construction).

Thanks for the update.

Sounds like they are upgrading. Will hold off until someone tells us what the end result is.

Did the Oaks a few weeks back. We used to park just over the railway bridge before you got to the ranger hut but this has all been removed. However there was parking near where the ranger hut used to be - if you get there early you should be OK and they are building more parking up there. The toilets and water are operational - they are spending some money there and it will be quite good when its finished.
There are now pay and display if your not a national parks member.
hope this helps.
Mike
