Cheap Avid Bleed Kit?

Anyone know of such a product?

I know Alligator made a universal one that T7 used to sell, but it couldn't do Avids. Surely someone else makes some cheaper aftermarket kits?
I found these Formula bleed kits which apparently do Avids as well, can anyone confirm? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?M...
They are a fair whack cheaper at $26 too.
Any help would be great thanks, my elixirs need bleeding....

Lozza I bought the alligator brand from I think T7. It came with bits, two syringes, clear hose and screw in valve fittings for about four different brand brakes. However it only came with one screw fitting for my Avids, you need two one for the caliper and one for the leaver, and no hose lock-off valves.
I had to borrow the NoBMoB communal “AVID” bleed kit off Craig who borrowed it from Tien then Rob….I don’t actually know who owns it but thanks, it worked well.
Anyway my advice is buy the Avid bleed kit.

My advice, take them to a shop.
I've been quoted $50 for both ends at Waverley Cycles.
I know once you've got the kit it will work out cheaper in the long run, but I believe some jobs are best left to the experts. Perhaps that's just me being lazy.....
We bled/relieved pressure on Tien's avids in the camp at the Mont by hand with no special tools. Of course the Doc could have just backed off the pad contact adjuster first!
Very useful link there. Learnt many new things in that video.
As for the communal NoBMoB Avid bleed kit.. does this mean you have it now? If so, may I borrow it?

Just buy a higher standard brake, such as products made by Shimano and Hope, and not only will be bleeds be very infrequent, no kit is required. They bleed just like a Brembo...

Mr P, whilst you maybe right, I'm not going to get into a which brakes are better discussion, simply because my bike came with Elixirs hence thats what I ride with and to me they work great.... I do not have money to switch them to brakes which "are better" so will stick to just solving my Avid bleeding issue
I think I've got my hands on a communal avid bleed kit. So hopefully the issue is solved unless i botch up the bleed job in which case I will come back here cursing and pleading to swap out for some brembo system style hydros

PS, wouldn't have a clue about how to bleed Brembos
.... an Avid bleed kit , with instructions, if you still need to borrow one. It's quite simple to do . PM me if you get stuck .

I was just poking fun. Brembos', like most motorcycle brakes, bleed from top to bottom. Open master cyclinder top cap, pour in fluid, work lever until there is no bubbles and a nice feel is achieved whilst at the caliper the bleed nipple is opened and existing fluid flows out, through a tube into a bottle, which is discarded.
Simply because I'm familiar with this method I find it easy.
Avid brakes bleed in the other directon. Some refer to this as arse about. Also I find that Avids require frequent bleeding where as my preferred brands do not. I see lots of this at work.
Over time, one learns to stick with a preferred product. You're not obligated to stick with any of the oe parts on your bike.
It's human nature to customise or dare I say it, to pimp one's ride...
I don't HAVE to... but pimping costs $$$ Apart from tyres and Joplin I'm running mine stock....
That does sound like an easier way to bleed, no syringes etc etc.. I am also a little annoyed that this has happened within 6 months (3 months riding) of my getting new bike.... I hope to bleed it and *touch wood* hope that it stays in nick this time for longer. If it happens again I certainly will start cursing the avids...

I'm looking at an N+1 at the moment, and one thing that is sticking me is the brakes. It has Magura Martas, which while being super light and powerful appear to be trouble to live with.
Supposedly you cannot buy seal kits etc, and the repair route is back to Magura. Sounds a bit dumb to me, from an engineers standpoint. I don't want a bike left sitting idle because I can't stop it.
Anyone with 1st hand experience of these who'd like to share?
My other option is to drop a lot of $ and upgrade to Elixer or similar from new.

I had the Magura Marta's now for 1 1/2 years without a single problem. No need for bleeding, easy change of pads (2 mins, $ 35 at CRC) and robust / reliable too (both after a mudfest or on long downhills). You can store them upside down or laying on side w/o a problem.
Plus they are RED !
The only "drawback" is that they are so powerful i.e. if you swap to a less knobby tyre (=less braking grip, like Racing Ralphs) that they lock up quicker (but that is a problem of the tyre...). But overall the modulation is good, too.
Ask Cupcake and Gazza - they've got them too.

coupled with Bernds Viper SS 29er frame it would make an all red bike

I have Magura Marta's & they have been great for over two years. I have juicy 5's & 3's on other bikes & they don't even come close to comparing to the Maguras.
However they have recently had a leak from around the piston in the lever, they should be
covered by warranty as I believe the warranty period is five years.
Should know in the next week or so how everything works out & I will let you know.
In the happy world of bike shops, Magura brakes are a brand that is reliable, robust and high performing. Any issues in obtaining parts here is not the fault of Magura, it's the fault of the importer, so shop about online.
Whichever brake you have, get to know it and maintain it. This goes for everyone.
One bike has the big red S, but not quite as much travel as your Enduro. However I've been given an increase in budget approval from the CFO so.... I'll keep it under my hat, but a few people can guess I'm sure. Have a test ride set for this weekend.
The Stumpy I'm looking at sure has a nice build kit, and if I get it I'll try the Martas for a while (thanks for all the positive feedback everyone).
It's amazing the difference an air shock and fork make over coils. I couldn't believe how well the suspension performs, the test Stumpy didn't have a brain, but RP23.
Gazza, red light casings are ready now, we have two switch options to chose from, so I'll show you Wednesday. I believe there is a chinese deal between you, Rob and myself for some of this.
