Oaks - up & back...Professors Week off pt3
Glenbrook Station Carpark
**I got me some trouble: broken wrist=no riding until Sept/Oct**
**Sorry - Professor**
I might be asking for trouble, but I've always wanted to do an up-and-back trip on the oaks, and why not!
This will be my 3rd decent ride in 4 days, so I imagine I'll be riding at a "medium" pace. (I managed the oaks classic in 1hr 7min, I don't imagine I'll be doing anything like that)
Plan is to ride up via the firetrail, probably stop at the Woodford end for a bite to eat (mental note - bring food!) then come back & do the sniggle at the end.
Andos+Hazo(+Oaks?) 6th July
Hazelbrook train station
Starting at Hazelbrook train station get the 9:58 train up to Wentworth Falls. Ride down Andos and grin like maniacs. I've not done Hazelbrook before but Carlgroover has offered to be our guide for that bit. In the unlikely event we still have the legs then we could ride down The Oaks and get the train back to Hazelbrook train station. That would make it a very full day.
WWS 2008 Round 5 Yarramundi
Next round of WWS at yarramundi.
Hoping to make it there in a 2 man team (or as it were last time a 1.5man team)
see http://www.brightorangeevents.com/ for more details
The Oaks At Night.
Glenbrook Station Carpark.
This will be the classic Oaks route from Woodford to Glenbrook station via the firetrail then single track and then the last technical section at the end but with a twist it will be in the dark. I expect this ride will be a lot of fun especially the single track in the dark.
The pace will be social with a stop or two along the way to wait for straglers.
Yellomundee MTB Grand Prix 2008
There will be signs. Hawkesbury Rd is a good place to aim for.
The first Mountain Bike Grand Prix will be held by Rocky Trail Entertainment together with the WSMTB Club in Yellomundee (Sydney, Lower Blue Mountains) on the weekend of 4 & 5 October 2008.
NoBMoB is an official online partner for this event and NoBMoBers who enter before August 17 are eligible for a 10% discount on entry. A code to use when entering online is available to our members in their private forum here (you will get an access denied message trying to view this unless logged in).
Yellowmundee Club Race - Round 4
There's a car park on Springwood Road - just down the way from Hawkesbury Heights if you're looking for a suburb name.
The WSMTB Club web site has some directions on how to get there. http://www.wsmtb.com/xc.shtml
This is a combined series put on by MWMTB Club & WSMTB Club.
All seriousness aside this is a lot of fun Yellowmundee is a nice track and there are different grades you can enter. The couple of races that I have entered so far have had a good number of riders so you are always trying to catch the next guy or hold someone off. Cost from memory is $15.00 for a day licence and $10.00 to race.
Oaks Up And Back
This ride is the Oaks up and back it is a training ride for the dirtworks so will be at a moderate to fast pace similar to todays ride at Terry Hills and the Andersons Oaks adventure a few weeks ago.
There are no trains involved with this ride as we leave Gleenbrook and head up the Oaks under our own power to the top gate at Woodford. Here we turn around and head back to Glenbrook with a possible detour out the Pisgah trail before blasting down the single track.
Careflight Woodford to Glenbrook Challenge
Woodford Bush Fire Brigade Station
The Woodford to Glenbrook Classic, now in its 10th year, is an event you won't want to miss.
This is not just a sporting event, it's a healthy, fun and exciting day for everyone, from beginning to end. Bring your family and friends to experience the thrill of competing against others while raising funds for NRMA CareFlight.
The event follows 25 km of fire trails in the beautiful Blue Mountains National Park. It starts at Woodford and ends with activities and prize giving at Euroka near Glenbrook.
NSWMTB State Xc #1 Lidsdale
Hey all for those interested NSW XC #1 is on at Lithgow on the 20th April.
Entries are open through BOE
The course will be ~11.5km long, We gave it a test ride tonight, I'm thinking of calling this the Cornetto version... No boring bits:
Andersons & The Oaks
Glenbrook train station carpark to catch the 6.53am train dont forget to change your clock 1 hour backwards from current daylight savings time.
This will be a medium to quick paced training ride with the dirtworks in mind so there will be minimal stops and plenty of mashing up the hills (for me anyway on the single speed) I believe it is about 60km so you will need to be able to do that sort of distance with relative ease.
Meet at Glenbrook station carpark with plenty of time in hand to get ready and organized to catch the train now at 6.53am to Wentworth Falls from there I will need a guide as last time couldnt find Andersons and spent the day looking for it (would of helped if I had remembered to bring the directions).
