Winter

The dog days are approaching
A dark time of mischief. The world lays dormant, waiting rebirth.
Perfect time to get out for a ride

Welcome to Round #2 one the 4 Seasons 3hr series.

Note: this round starts at the earlier time of 1 so we get the last lap in before dark.

Ah, the end of the quarter, BAS, quarterly tax, paper work... But it wasn't always so.

Remember when life was simple? Remember when you rode your bike to have a good time?

Autumn

The season of change. Bosom buddy to the maturing sun.... Who hath not seen thee oft amid thy store.

What ever the hell that means.

Welcome to Round #1 one the 4 Seasons 3hr series.

Ah, the end of the quarter, BAS, quarterly tax, paper work... But it wasn't always so.

Remember when life was simple? Remember when you rode your bike to have a good time?
When you rode because it felt good and the company you rode with and the tracks you rode were more important than having 1000 categories to choose from and a big list of swag to choose from.

Before the 5min IMBA experts jump up and down about running the race in the wet, we rode the trail 2 days later to see what we needed to fix up and and it was perfect.

Some soil types and track designs handle wet better than others, but mostly it's the soil type

Didn't quite get my training right for this one but did OK.

I'd been doing 1 long ride (time wise) a week with a fair bit of climbing in it. but, being time strapped was relying on Tuesday night racing to keep my speed up and struggled to get time back that up. I really needed some more aerobic stuff and some intervals work thrown in.

In the weeks leading up I'd noticed my speed had dropped off on Tuesday nights and recognising my error managed to get a couple of spinnerval sessions on the trainer, a little late but better than nothing.

smarter race. almost

Every week I head out to Rydal, set up the track and tell myself "I'm not going to sprint off the start this week. I haven't got that fitness."

Every week I line up at the start (no warm up), give the speech, say "Every one ready, set, Go!"

Every week we take off the red mist descends and I bust my gut to get a good spot into the single track, send my heart rate through the roof and then blow up trying to keep my spot.

every week I die in the arse in the second or third lap, get heart rate back under control then come home strongish but suffering

It's cold and dark in the Rydal forest. Very cold. Very Dark.

And when the sun goes down things emerge... Hairy, scary things.
They glide through the forest, some times silent, some times emitting eery sounds. Curses, unholy laughter, screeching, the whoop of the chase.

They are shunned by decent society and called many names. Outcasts. Rebels. Maniacs. but they call themselves mountain bikers.

Are you brave enough to join them?

Mid Winters Night* Screaming 4hr

Will take place on July 14th* from 2.30pm to 6.30pm

Got bored with the rain today. I really should have manned up and gone for a ride but lack of motivation had me editing this up instead.
