knapsack maintence

Just wondering when or if we are going to have a maintence day for the Knapsack DH track or is the council dooming it to failure in letting it fall into disrepair.

Video of Top Knaspack DH trail before building

Just looking through old files and remembered this filmed by me holding Kingy's iphone for planning the lines at the Knapsack DH top section. Its very shoddy video and riding using the iphone as ones eyes is not recommened, Still it gives an idea of the difference with the building.

Latest Meeting With Council Staff - May 15th 2012

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Had another meeting with council staff. Essentially..

1) Contractor being sought for the new section of DH. The brief is being sent out to various suggested contractors this week. They are putting an expectation on this section being finished by December.

2) BMORC presented a design for the top section of the DH above Lovers Walk that will be the second build day. This should be in July. There should be some preparatory work done before that to narrow it down to single track that winds down the hill rather than being straight.

The Quarry

There has been a fair amount of bush rock being brought in lately, this is one of two piles I saw today.

Suggestions for XC trail features

Get in with your suggestions and get involved.

With this in mind. I rode Mt Annan for the second time, and really for the first time as it is much more bedded in, and the extensions really add flavour to the track.

This is my suggestions for bits I liked.

XC Track Naming

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

We are looking for ideas for naming the XC tracks.

Topics for naming are Historical to the site, Tribute to Gary Payne and Whats in the Area.

Attached is a map with sections numbered. It is a reference tool only. There are no starts and finish of sections set in stone. It contains the proposed loop in Blue and Magenta, and the Alternative XC in Cyan.

To get the Ball Rolling here are some of my ideas. (In bold are my favourites)

1+2a. Steam Express or Locamotive (Next to it is the old railway cutting)
2b+3. The Cave
4+5. Sawmill
8. Garys Loop

Latest News with Knapsack April 2012

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Well we will have more to discuss here so I will try to keep this thread more informative..

Last night we had our first face to face meeting with council staff since gaining approval for the project. We were mainly working out how to proceed with the next steps. We have to deal with meeting a few requirements from the Commonwealth assessment which includes meeting IMBA guidlines and creek crossings and rehabilitation.
