Oaks
The Oaks, Woodford to Glenbrook with Lights
Glenbrook station carpark.
Just a social ride, not a race. I have not done much riding the last 6 months so going up the hills wont be quick, but going down should be fun. Not really for beginners, but if you starting out and want to get lights (good lights) and have a go then send me a PM to discuss. Gets pretty cold this time of year so make sure your rugged up to begin with and then be able to shred off some gear once you hit a hill or two.
Basher
Saw this out on the street this morning and picked it up this arvo....could be a contender for the BMORC Basher!
HOPPER (Made in NZ) - Rock hopper - Rigid haroken.
Shimano 21spd. Altus C10 Shifters/Mechs. Rear Shifter not working.

Dotek Cranks tripple ring.

Thanks to all those that helped a fallen comrade at the Oaks today
Just a shout out to all those that helped out our mate, Tristan today at the Oaks.
Rob S and a few others helped out with first aid and equipment after Tristan fishtailed out and faceplanted into the rut at the sharp left juncture about 3 clicks from the Woodford entry.
He was out cold, copped a broken cheekbone and concussed and was airlifted out.
Again just a huge show of thanks for the mtb comraderie and Tristan is doing well and sends his thanks for those that helped!
Oaks Single Track Upgrade - BMORC meeting with NPWS
BMORC reps met with NPWS project managers to disscuss the Oaks trail.
A 3 year plan is being set in motion to upgrade the Glenbrook precinct. NPWS staff sought input from BMORC on how to improve the oaks trail and make it more sustainable and enjoyable for riders. Currently due to the layout of the trail beginner riders and those less familiar with the trail are often pushed to the road.
The trail was first approved so as to separate cyclists and motor vehicles. BMORC reps essentially covered the basics of IMBA guidelines, focusing on both erosion minimisation and also trail flow so that both beginner and experienced riders can share the trail and still gain the riding experience that they are capable off.
A good walk and talk was had and in 6 months the NPWS managers will be comimg back to us with a planned propsal. For the Interim volunteers will be fixing the puddle prone areas.
Euroka Oaks
Start at the Glenbrook gate into the National Park.
Through the causeway and up to the Ironbarks picnic area.
Down the firetrail into Euroka clearing and then up Bennetts Ridge firetrail.
Back onto the Oaks firetrail up to the gate at the top of the single track.
Turn around at the gate and head down the Oaks single track.
Back through the causeway and finish back at the Glenbrook gate.
BMORC meets with NPWS
Last week BMORC reps met with Tina from NPWS to talk about the existing Oaks Single track (aka Twitter Trail), how to improve on safety and erosion control.
It was decided that our first priority would be pruning back the eye whipping branches. This improves user safety. The rider will be able to keep an eye on where they are going with an improved line of sight and not need to keep ducking.
BMORC will be assembling a small team of volunteers to work with NPWS.
There are many items on the agenda and future discussions will be taking place.
Andersons. Oaks. Someone pikes, someone chokes.
Could not believe it. "Ando" Andy, the guy who lives less than 5 minutes from the meeting point, bailing out before his dainty foot even touched his bedroom floor. Drizzling, he called it. A bit icky. And to think that some of those Sydney blokes got up at 5am for this one.
But it's early, he says. It's raining. And I've never liked that ride anyway.
Bloody cream-puff.
Turns out he wasn't the only one.
Back In The Saddle - Andersons + Oaks (One Way)
Meet at Glenbrook Train Station to catch the train up to Wentworth Falls. (I'll meet you all at the station 'cause I live at Wentworth Falls)
Back in the saddle ride after messy divorce with my gallbladder!
Train leaves Glenbrook at 6:53am arriving 7:40am at Wenty Falls. Ride from there to Woodford via Andersons Fire Trail and depending on how keen everyone is, continue down to Glenbrook via the Oaks and single track or bail out at Woodford.
