Help the MTB Community - ride more

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi All,
I've just started participating in a Survey, that will hopefully benefit all MTB activity in the future! Please take the time to read this post and the extra few minutes to join the survey. We all ride enough in the Bluies, so lets contribute to getting some solid data about our activity!

I've copied this (with the author's consent) from Rotorburn, to gain some more spread to the survey! C'mon, you know you want to!

----------------------------------------------

Mountain biking suffers from a lack of good data to support our validity as trail users.

This is a survey that will track a number of riders over 6 months to see what sort of accidents, mechanicals and other riding behaviours we have. Please email me if you would like to be involved at mtb.census@gmail.com

Often it seems that many councils, national parks and other land managers are hesitant to allow mountain biking because it is seen as too risky and they are worried about litigation.

Merry Christmas

Just wishing all you Bmorcians a merry Christmas. It's been great riding with everyone this year (still a week or so to get some more in before 2011) and looking forward to some good action on the trails and in the council chambers next year. I hope Santa leaves something shiny with wheels and pedals under your tree or a least something bike related Eye-wink

Ride this Sunday?

Alright, the rain looks like it might keep away this weekend. Anyone in for a ride on Sunday?

And if it rains again this weekend, dammit, I might have to get myself one of these things:

BMORC Home Page

Was thinking anyone new to mountain biking and having just came to our page for the first time may be a little hesitant and fearful that they are getting in over their head and was thinking the welcome message could also state that we are not a club and anyone can participate on the forums and on group rides from beginners to professionals. or something along those lines.

I know that feeling and anything that makes you feel more welcome goes a long way.

Cannonball Run

Mr Bloot, how was your Cannonball Run? Any mishaps / adventures of note, or did you just smash out a dozen runs a day without a sweat, then retire to the bar in your sponsor's cap to talk up your deeds over a strong beverage, little downhill groupies gazing up at you in adoration...

Found: VDO Sensor

Anyone lose a VDO sensor at Scribblies today (21st)? If so, I have it.

Bike size to height

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

G'Day all,

Before I start I know that there are many things other than height that influence frame size choice and bikes can be set up differently.

But I was wondering what size frame people are using and how tall they are.

I'm 179cm (5.101/2 in the old language) and currently ride a 20" hardtail which I'm finding a little too big. I used to ride an 18" hardtail which felt too small and last week I jumped on another 18" hardtail which also felt too small.

21Nov10 anyone

I have somebody from QLD coming down for work and a ride and he asked about a BM ride ...

He lands at 8am Sunday 21st ... so prolly a 10.30 - 11am start ... and was thinking of scribblies ... take 50

Anyone want to join me ??

Would be nice to head up there for an actual ride, outside of Knapsack or Lithgow for me.

I'll put up a calendar item if I get a few more then me.

Note: my anniversary is the 19th ... so how likely do you think Michele is to book something ?? bah, she'll be right
