And I hate dirt bikers!!

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I know some dirt bike riders don't fit into this category, but can anyone explain to me why most dirt bikers need to rip the hell out of everything when they ride?

We get a lot of motos out along Ridgewell Rd (goes to hanging rock), and it's bad enough that they wreck the fire trails, but they are also getting around the National Park gate, and riding right up to the lookout. A few weeks ago I noticed that a log obstacle on the final bit of single track leading to the lookout had recently been chopped, and today I find a nice couple of donuts right at the lookout itself!

Mid-week social... anyone?

Just back from 2 weeks overseas and have the rest of the week off. Mad keen to get some riding under my belt. Any shift-workers / dole-bludgers / holiday-makers up for a ride this week? Prefer the mid - upper mountains, but if I'm desperate, I might even venture down to where the flat-landers live.

I Hate Dumpers!!

Yet another clean up today at the local.

Not a bad load of two mattresses, three sofa chairs and heaps of rotten pressboard, hoses, paint tins, tractor tube, plastic and misellaneous crap.

Was spotted by a lady who at first thought we were dumpers until we told her what we were doing and she thanked us profusely.

Tip fee would have been around $45 was told, but luckily a computer glitch meant we only had to pay the standard $12, so there was some good kharma working for us today!

BMORC Xmas ride.

With the year cracking along and chrissy approaching fast, I think it's time to put up suggestions for a BMORC Xmas ride. I have met a few guys that have expressed interest in heading out in a large-ish group for a day of mtb escapades, and what better way to expand the social ties of the mtb community than another big group ride.

I reckon something memorable, with great views, that is easy enough for all but slightly challenging. How does a Narrowneck excursion sound? Failing that, the ever popular Oaks followed by a BBQ at Glenbrook.

Any other suggestions?

Social Rides

Was talking to a few people the other night and one thing that came up is that Social rides have kinda dropped off, mainly because groups of people tend to ride together, and simply, just call each other and or organise things when they see each other.

one of the reasons we set up this place was to try and increase the "community" aspect of the rides in the Mountains and surrounds, as well as get the message out about what we are doing, legit trails, etc etc.

Thanks to Tristan at Bikeminded in Wenty for offering me this at a great price
And all the crew there backing it up with great service

Swapped some of my parts over and completely botched one bit at 5.15 last night
Raced down there and Simon was on his own with 3 people waiting
Still managed to sort me for it's maiden voyage at Scribbs this morning

A few tweaks and upgrades in the future to shave a bit of pork - all part of the fun

But need to sell my old stumpy with the new gear on it
Swap out some parts to get my GT Zascar trail worthy

Todd's Old Narrowneck Crash Photos - Warning there is a bit of blood.

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Digging through old photos I stumbled upon these of Todd's sometimes mentioned Narrow Neck crash that he still has some niggling issues from.

This was after jumping the second waterbar on the first descent with water bars. Measured from lip to start of crash skid it was something like 40ft, (I measured with my 12" long 5-10 shoe).

The wounds are from scraping along the nice gravelly ground for 50ft like a rag doll.

.... and yes as you are all wondering, the bike was fine.

Riding In The Rain

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

After attending the xc club championships this morning at yarramundee( i went down to help out rather than ride in the rain), this being a rather pointless objective, because rightly wsmtb club did the right thing and called it off, what surprised me were the number of riders turning up to ride socially that didnt care whether it was raining, hailing or a mudbath.

Glenbrook Historical Society Thingy

For those that were at the Monday meeting ... and or who know this type of stuff.

Could you put up some links or phone numbers of general information about the Walks that they "the Gents from the Historical Society" conduct ??

Apologies, I haven't searched yet ... but I thought it would be an interesting family fun day thingy with the kids and with me prolly carrying both of the tikes along whilst we bush walked would be a good leg work out.

MItchells Pass

Just got this email form a mate regarding Mithchell's Pass

Hi All

I don't know if you are in the habit of riding down Mitchells Pass (Lennox Bridge) but if you are, be aware that there is an extremely big tree which has fallen and totally blocked the road about 200 metres from the end at the old highway. Its' only just around the two left hand sweepers at the bottom.
