Ok did St Helena for the first and last time today.

It's nothing how I think it used to be. The firetrail is pretty smooth but the singletrack off it is atrociously overgrown... and the hike down is of course as bad.

Basically there's not much point anymore... all the technical stuff gone and an hour of hiking... Go Oaks from now.

Summer growth?

Was noticing a few weeks ago that even the St Ives singletrack was starting to close up in spots due to the usual summer vegetation growth spurt.

Maybe better over autumn/winter?

Difference being St helanas is approved for cycling (cept the last bit in the Blue Mt NP PoM where are Linden Ridge wasn't.

Pretty sure folk have been given the Ok in the past to do a bit of trimming/clean up work.

Rod was trying to get NPWS

Rod was trying to get NPWS oganised to allow some of us to go in and trim St Helenas a few years back, but NPWS weren't overly helpful so the project sort of died off due to the efffort to get it of the ground. So I don't think anyone ever did do it.

If its in the POM then its probably worth using your good parks contacts Michael to speak to them about it.
